SRL didnt hold them all at once.
He just fought for 2 different weight titles on the same night.
If i remember right Tommy Hearns won the newly created WBO SMW title just before SRL beat Lalonde and as he had already held a LHW title(actually won at LHW against a guy weighing LHW)he technically did it first.

That was a pure con to give leonard titles at 5 weights.
Its around this time i stopped liking the guy.
Lalonde had to defend his LHW belt by dropping down to SMW which he was willing to do to get the payday, but it was Sugar Ray again loading things in his favour.

Aside from the titles, this was also to set-up a unification SMW bout with Hearns.

Lalonde could have beaten him too if he hadn't come down in weight. Cant blame him though, the payday was too much to turn down.

But it was pretty shady, Lalonde was a natural 175 pounder but Leonard made him make 168 so that the super middleweight title was on the line as well, then they drank a gulp of water and got back on the scales to make it a light heavyweight fight. Making 168 took something out of Lalonde, he still gave Leonard a tough fight though.

Also the WBC looks greedy. They suddenly authorizes the division despite ridiculing the new alphabetboy (IBF) for making up a divsion between MW and LHW. Thereby they earned more sanctioning fees and helped Leonard to become the first 5 time champion. At least that's how I remember it.

Still the fight was entertaining and Leonards combos where great in that fight and the finish was brutal.

you have to wonder what would have happened if he could have came in at the proper weight, i am not so sure leonard would have made it out alive, and they knew that, if they didint, they wouldnt have put those rediculous sanctions on his weight.

I don't know. Leonard was insanely gifted and Lalonde was really only a right-handed puncher since his left shoulder was busted in an accident.

Lalonde had extreme difficulty getting down in weight, at least thats how I remember the build-up so it did take something out of him for sure. Leonard also took some heat for it, but probably not as much as he should have. Of course Lalonde took the fight which gave him millions and a household name.
