People dispute how much extra rest time Ali got, but if it was only 6 seconds like some claim, then I agree that the torn gloves issue gets too much attention.

Henry Cooper is honestly an idiot. I watched his interview a few days ago regarding the destruction of hatton, and he said when Ali fell against him the ropes saved him, and that if he had caught Ali in the middle of the ring where Pac-man caught Hatton, that he would have went to sleep for 5 mins like Hatton did. That comment made me lose a lot of respect for the guy.

Apparently the gloves weren't even changed, Cooper said it was 5 minutes when really it was something like 12 seconds (according to Wikipedia), cause apparently from that point on they started supplying spare gloves at ring side just in case an incident like that every happens again...
