By Cliff Rold - Before Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, 40-year old former Light Heavyweight titlist Antonio Tarver (28-0, 17 KO) of Tampa, Florida was 4-0 in rematches against the likes of Glen Johnson, Eric Harding, and Roy Jones Jr.
He wasn’t 40 the first four times around.
Performing admirably, Tarver gave it a go but could do little to overcome the youth, speed and activity of reigning 26-year IBF titlist Chad Dawson (28-0, 17 KO). The New Haven, Connecticut product took some big shots and landed more than enough of his own to win a wide decision in his second straight contest against Tarver. Where he goes from here is anyone’s guess. [details]
