But it depends on who he loses to. If he fights and loses to someone like timothy bradley or andreas kotelnik then surely his status and legacy will take a hit. But that is highly unlikely. His list of possible opponents include Marquez who he would be 50/50 with given their history...Mayweather, Mosley and Cotto. All of whom would be heavily favored to to beat him anyway.
Right, but what if he loses to Victor Ortiz? Is it really a bad loss? This guy is untested and may actually be A material, but we don't know yet. I think a loss to Ortiz would look kind of bad now but not as bad in the future if Victor becomes a star, which he may.

You're right But we're talkin Manny's NEXT fight. Ortiz is not even on the list of names for the Manny sweepstakes. Only Floyd, Mosley, Cotto, Marquez.

If manny takes a stay busy fight this summer...then it would also include names like Bradley, Kotelnik, Valero, and Berto. but still no Ortiz regardless.

Losses to all of those fighters would look bad and be a huge set back because they are relatively unknown, and Valero is a LW. Berto he may get somewhat of a pass on because he is an established WW and a naturally bigger man, but a loss to Berto would end any future prospects of him fighting at 147.

If Manny Pacquiao retires now before losing, his legacy would be similiar to Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather retired the P4P king and finish of his career defeating De La Hoya & Hatton while being a young enough fighter (30). So If Mayweather was consider to retire as an All time great without proving himself more why should Manny be seen any less then Floyd. After all nobody would've known if Mayweather would've lost his next fight. Different is Pacquiao aint retiring yet, but even if he loses he still proved more then anyone ever imagine.

How many Boxing fans thought Pacquiao could move up 17 to 23 pounds and beat a hall of famer without losing a step? The little filipino has done more than anyone ever expected of him.

i think pac could retire and still be considered an ATG, just not a top 20 ATg.

I see Victor being the next big thing anyway and I see him carrying the torch post Pacman. Pac has already accomplished alot and if he were to lose tomorrow I will be greatfull for the ride he has given boxing fans. Pinoys would all hop on Nonito Donaires bandwagon and look forward to whats next in Filipino boxing.
