Rafael blasted him out the next day on ESPN saying that he was unprofessional and that Green would be lucky to ever get another fight on TV, additionally saying that he should be ashamed of himself.

Don't know for sure but that could be something to do with it.
Yeah I mean that's definitely part of it, but at the same time, Rafael is only a writer. He's not a fighter, he's not a manager, he's not a promoter, but he likes to act like he's more important than all of them combined.

As a dedicated fan, I think it's pretty unprofessional for a fighter to pull out of a fight less than a week before it happens. There's two reasons why I believe this. First, heavy training is pretty much over by that point. So, injuries are not part of the reason why the fighter would withdraw. Second, most of the tickets are sold by then so it lets the fans down.

But, and this is key, the fighters actually get into the ring. They deserve a certain benefit of the doubt. I just can't respect when someone refuses to acknowledge that. I respect Rafael as a reporter, but he's goes way overboard as an editorialist.

DAN RAFAEL NEEDS TO STOP WRITING LIES!

        By Allan "Sweetness" Green

ESPN's Dan Rafael appears to have it in for me and my advisor Greg Leon. His words reflect poorly on his professionalism, though his consistent failure to fact check, make me wonder if he has any professionalism to begin with. I only say this because for the second time in six or so months, he's printed absolutely false information regarding the goings on of my career. Earlier today he wrote that a potential fight with Lucian Bute fell apart because I overpriced myself. That is absolutely false and I am 100% certain he didn't get that information from anybody on my team. The fact of the matter is, there were brief discussions regarding the fight, however my advisor never came to me with a purse and Bute's promoter never made any offer to my promoter Lou DiBella. It is impossible to overprice yourself before a single offer is made. In short Mr. Rafael, stop writing lies about me. Editors Note: Full interview to follow Monday

Dan Rafael and Kevin Iole are the scourge of the boxing writers community. I'd like to see them both get ktfo.

I don't get why you all assume that Rafael is full of **** just because Green says he is. Does Alan Green have a reputation for being trustworthy or something? Isn't it just as likely that Green wrote this because Dan was telling the truth?

Exactamundo. Some people just flat out dislike the guy, so they hear someone (someone with credibility issues, no less) make a claim about him and immediately jump to all sorts of conclusions. Facts of this particular situation be damned.

Yeah, but where does that reputation that Green has come from? Ummm...psst...Dan Rafael. I am not aware of any other writer who has anything bad to say about Allan Green. He's a smart and articulate guy. He's not going to take a deal that's not good for him. Plus, he gets into the ring. Does Rafael? No. But Rafael is ALWAYS ripping him for trying to manage his career as he sees fit and also his ring performance.

If Rafael really thinks he's as good at negotiating fights as he makes out in his comments ripping fighters and managers then why doesn't he take up a managing and/or promotional career? It's more lucrative than being a writer, especially if you're as good at it as Rafael would have us all believe he is.

People dislike him because he rips any and everyone, but has absolutely no humility himself. I mean really, if the dude knows so much and is just so influential with fight negotiations as he makes out to be then why isn't HE a big time fight manager. The truth is he's got a big ego and sometimes just makes stuff up about fighters/managers he has something against.

Rafael has been caught in some embarassing lies in the past, but Green has a spotty history, and Leon is about as bad as it comes when it comes to misrepresntation of the facts.
