lol Anyone who thinks Marquez, became Marquez AFTER the Paq fights is a flat out moron period. The guy had a reputation before that. He would have got put on the scene earlier for these shallower fans, but I know Emanuel Steward admitted to avoiding Marquez when he had Hamed. He said himself that he definitely had no plans on putting Hamed in with Marquez. So he chose Barrera who recently was comin off a Morales loss.
But I think just cause Marquez never had that real break through fight early on, doesn't mean he's over-rated. lol That definitely ranks up there with some of dumbest **** I've ever read on this site. Over-rated fighters don't perform like he does against his competition. He's KOed the highest rated lightweights, Paq didn't even do that. I think Hatton is the only fighter Paq has takin out that wasn't a stiff or at some disadvantage, but even then Hatton did suck in general lol. But Marquez late in his career took those guys who were bigger bodies then him and finished them off blatantly. He was a older version of himself in the majority of his biggest fights, with his hand speed way behind him in the majority of his biggest fights, and he still performed great only showin signs of slower reflexes on defense and in hand speed. Also Marquez' had a chance for a breakthrough fight with Derrik Gainer, but Gainer didn't even bother fighting, he took a few punches and quit. That didn't do anything for Marquez in the eyes of shallow fans, he didn't even get a chance to let the beast loose cause Gainer was running NON STOP.
But the Paq fights were huge just for the simple fact, THAT's the fighter Marquez decided to attempt his break through against. It wasn't a shot Barrera, or a shot Morales. It was Manny Pacqiou lmao, and you're talkin about him bein over-rated? Where the **** do some of you people keep your head at? lol Do even think before posting? In those Paq fights, he showcased epic talent. He got shocked by a unseen southpaw style and literally made adjustments right after the next bell and put hands all over Paq. And he's over-rated because of that? lol Yeah, cause 'that' makes sense.

As for him vs Morales or Barrera, I think if they all 3 got in the mix in their prime Marquez should be considered the favorite to pull out on top. His straight right was just too much and his left hook wasn't soft either. Barrera had problems with fighters that had the kind of offense Marquez had. Barrera would keep his head up and sometimes be so straight up he looked like a ****in totem pole. That's why Junior Jones and Morales were able to touch him up, they come straight up the middle with straight hard shots. But I think like Jones, Marquez had that weight on the end of his punch.
As for a fight with Morales, just like Barrera Morales would just come forward, but Erik would come behind punches that were like spears. He wouldn't be caught standin straight up like Barrera either. He also had a granite chin. Again though, Marquez had some weight on the end of his shots. Only one could imagine what Morales would look like runnin into Marquez' hands.
