Yes, but Cotto isn't better than Mayweather. And while excuses can't be made as far as credit goes, Mosley was not physically or strategically at the best he could be, nor did Cotto decisively win. I personally had Mosley winning 7-5.

wow at the polls. this is getting ridiculous with the hate. so a close decision over a past his prime 35 year old is better than ANY of Mayweathers wins? even the ones where he completely dominated and ko'd prime fighters?

The Diego win for floyd was better, castillo is also a better win. You have to consider when he fought them, shane isnt the shane of old, otherwise it would hold weight. And no, im not going to let a poll dictate anything. If you put up right now "whos resume is better, floyd or cotto" it would be cotto, even if that isnt remotely true.

Even though I voted yes, this part is sadly most likely true. His resume is leaps and bounds from being as good over all. People will justify Cotto's resume as being better by discrediting everything Floyd did at 135 and below, while simultaneously crediting Castillo for giving Mayweather "his first loss", and will even have the nerve to consider the KO loss to Margarito as a NC. The hate does run strong.

Overall, Mosley is a greater fighter than anyone Mayweather has beaten and it makes it difficult to say otherwise after the Marg domination by Mosley, but the Corrales win was good, though at the time Corrales was so overblown, overhyped and exaggerated it's not funny.

Do people even realise what he had done to be rated number five P4P? It's hilarious. Mayweather himself, after beating actual champions and being on the P4P list for years already was still behind Corrales who shot to number five after doing nothing but knocking out a bunch of chumps (who had actually already all been knocked out by Mayweather previously anyway!). What it amusing is the stock people put on the P4P rankings and of the ranking of Corrales in particular at that time.

Mosley was a very long time, proven, triple weight world champion with great wins before and after Cotto. Corrales had had a few title fights at one weight and one good win against a fighter of significance in Derrick Gainer. The others were never-rans that had already been knocked out by better fighters (Mayweather) long before.....and who happened to be lower on the P4P list after winning more fights against better competition. Go figure.

Mosley is a better win. No doubt. Corrales was very good, but it still does not compare to beating Mosley.

Honestly, if shane was fighting cotto in 2000, and cotto came in as the evident underdog, then i would have voted yes. But shane has slowed down, and his wins over mayorga and margarito dont convince me otherwise.

Considering WHEN floyd fought him, he came in as that underdog and everyone, including myself, gave him no shot and he absolutely trashed him, i had no idea that would happen. Whereas a cotto win over mosley at this point was basically the consensus. It was a close fight. So i cant overrate Cottos win over him. Resume wise it looks good, but if you ask me to consider the time that they fought, i cant say its better.
