Who expected people to buy a PPV consisting of two losing fighters?

The fans themselves felt Marquez beat Pacquiao X2. Marquez leads in the polls where the people vote! Not judges.

The fans saw Hatton destroyed by Mayweather on the second biggest PPV event in Boxing History.

Why would they tune in to see two leftovers battle it out in some Exhibition match?

They'll tune in on July 18th to see two real fighters!

wasn't it already proven that that was a mistake?

usatoday came out with a story of bob saying 1.6-2 but that interview was back in december after the pac-delahoya fight. i think mrpain and mangler posted the new usatoday article next to an old one from december and the quotes of what arum said were identical.

i expected 500-750k u.s. and 1 mil. u.k. ppv buys on this one. if it's around those figures it's a success to me.

I heard it did 550K PPV! See anybody can make a thread saying this and that but until a credible source with a credible link comes out we won't know until then everyone needs to relax!

Any doubters want to make a bet?

The reason that the number is disappointing is due to the heightened marketing budget for this fight. Several new marketing techniques were applied: video-rich banners on websites, and well as online ads on newspaper websites. Additionally, there was increased ad spend on SiriusXM and on Univision.

The final rollup from the RBOC's may end up being slightly above that number.

Pacman didn't even do 120 k with Diaz. He did like 200 or 300k with Marques, and like 350 k with Morales and Barrera I believe. I don;t even know if he did like 20 k with Solis. He did ok with Oscar, but even Mayorga does great with him and let's face it Hatton is beer drinking white boy with a massive following from Britain. Floyd may not get people to attend his fights out but he's a pay per view figure, check out the stats for TATA and ZAB, and even Gatti.
                STFU.

pulling numbers out of your ass.

marquez 2 was the highest drawing ppv for the lower weight classes.

it was higher than the morales and barrera ppvs so i know you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

As far as the negotiations go for the next pac fight, the ppv numbers wont matter. Pacman is the p4p king so therefore he holds the upper hand on negotiations. Whoever he fights will have to take less.

                      Boxing doesn't work like that.

The purses are based on economic/commercial appeal, not p4p ranking. Did Pac earn more than Oscar in their fight?

Jeez. You cats aren't exactly Wharton grads, are ya?
