It said on Bunce's boxing hour he didn't go in till Hatton was getting his hands taped . I was wondering if that could have anything to do with him getting blasted out so early because Froch said something similar last week , that he didn't get enough time on the pads before the fight and that's how he was poor at the start , plus it was odd to see Hatton coming in first before Pac when he was the ibo champion .

I knew from the start that Hatton's decision to dump Graham in favor of Mayweather was good, but after the Malignaggi fight, there wasn't a whole lot of improvement. You can't teach an old dog new tricks. There are some parts of the fight (with Pacquiao) that Hatton tried to apply some of the stuff he was boasting about, but ultimately the result of a fight is something like 25%-30% trainer...the rest is up to the fighter. We probably would've seen a more interesting fight had it gone into deeper rounds, but unfortunately Hatton got clipped with a monster punch. It's not to say Hatton was dominating, but he was always closing the distance and forcing Pacquiao to move around a lot. Regardless, Pacquiao was quick, accurate, strong and just overall a better fighter.
I think it's dumb to call into question a trainer's integrity solely on a fighter's performance on a SINGLE night. They probably didn't mesh or probably they did. Who knows? The point is we didn't get to see MUCH of Hatton because he was knocked into oblivion early in the fight, and it would be dumb to criticize Sr. for trying to break a loooooooooooooooooong habit that Hatton's had of being overzealous in his pressure style.

I felt bad for Floyd snr at the end of round 1 when he told Ricky that he hasn't listened to him from day 1 with that performance.

However, that doesn't take away from the fact that Hatton was the only one in that ring once the bell rang. He was demolished in epic fashion, and he took it like a man. Hatton's camp, and a few of my fellow hatton supporters should start doing the same.

Floyd Sr. was there for nothing but the money. That's the difference between him and Roach. Floyd Sr. can shoot his huge mouth off about "joke coach" and crap like that, but at least Freddie believes in his fighter 100% and is there for him through thick and thin.
