From what I understand Morales didn't let Pacquiao wear the Reyes gloves for the first fight. After he won he got ****y and let Pacquiao wear the Reyes gloves and we saw the result in the second and third fight.

Can gloves make that big of a difference?

I think it would. Especially fora boxer like Manny who relies on his speed. funny, in the 2nd fight Morales was also wearing reyes gloves.

And, we can also say that had Morales been wearing the Reyes gloves, he may have stopped Pac as well.

            It goes both ways.

Morales did more than good after having another grueling battle with Barrera. He didn't take much time off and fought Pacquiao. Then he moved up in weight and didn't look very good in that weight class. He seem slow and wasn't in much condition. Then he moved down again took a short time off and fought Pacquiao. Morales had too many battles and didn't take the appropriate rest. I always thought he needed more time to heal and rest from all his big battles.

Pacquiao was outboxed and outskilled by Morales. Pacquiao looked more in shape in the 1st fight than Morales so I don't think Pacquiao was weight drained. He did start the fight strong but the cut did have a factor that made Pacquiao tentative.

With regards the gloves, it may have had a psychological difference because Pacquiao is more accustomed to the Reyes Gloves which are puncher's gloves compared to the Winning Gloves which is more hand protecting. Morales wore the Reyes Gloves in their 3rd fight not the second.

                  true.

that trilogy had a lot of drama and side stories concerning gloves.

1st fight - both winning gloves

2nd fight - manny with cleto-reyes , erik with winning

                  3rd fight - both cleto-reyes

whenever there's a fight there's always excuses from both sides. some bad some good. some understandable and some don't make any sense.

erik won the 1st fair and square. just leave it at that. it was a good fight. 2nd runner up for fight of the year i think. good exciting , close fight.

no shame on either for losing.

the 1st fight gives erik that 1 win that helps him separate himself against barrera a bit also the last win of his career and a big one. it also helped manny in terms of learning that he had to improve his style and how the right jab , left straight wasn't enough.
