he had a lot of things go against him in that fight.

first time at 130 , first time fighting someone as big and good as morales , fighting with winning gloves instead of cleto reyes , the cut caused by the headbutt.

it was good for his career that he lost that fight. he started improving his arsenal after the loss and the trilogy got him paid.

the win over barrera made him a star but the morales fights made him a ppv attraction.

similar to the case with this hatton fight. first time at 140. first time fighting someone as big as hatton. i think the big difference was the fact that 140 is more natural to him....

sorry but can't compare ricky to erik (even a past prime erik)

i like ricky but there's just no comparison. a lot different jumping to a new division to fight erik morales than it is to jump a new division to fight ricky hatton. (besides fighting at 147 beforehand basically as a 140 guy didn't hurt.)
