Boxing isn't just about the fighters, it's about politics and economics first. You have to have the fanbase to sell seats and PPV to get big name US fights.
Hatton always said his dream was to be involved in the big fights in the US, it's every fighters dream. And he took on all comers, losing only to two ATG's. He could have carried on against Mayweather and lost on points but he isn't that kind of fighter, he'd rather get ko'd trying to win.
As for Collazo, yet another one who is saying he 'nearly lost'. The last time I looked, 'nearly losing' is winning. You don't see 'nearly lost' on a fighters record.
He fought a crap fight against Manny, but that left he took would have put an elephant on its arse. Props to Manny for that.
Yeah the man is a bum who fought no-oneLast edited by NorvernRob; 05-07-2009, 10:10 AM.Comment

Some people act like Hatton is a GREAT fighter, who in the word has he beaten to be great besides K.T? he was beaten by a B class fighter in Collazoand rocked by a C class fighter in Lazcano. All he is a MONEY COW that any one that wants to get paid will fight.Comment

thanks for crackin that head out of hatton...
it made pacman's 2 round tKO brilliant..
thanks for going close to DLH..
it made pacman's dominating win
alot more devastating than any of DLH's fights ever..
what really hurts for FM's fans was..
MP outshining him at the moment..
dont discredit somebody's spectacular win
against whoever, and give the credit
to someone who beat once before him..
MP still outshines FM's win over hatton..
regardless of whatsoever..
it's just becoz FM is a defensive master boxer
and MP is an explosive fighter, that seperate their
performance..
*though what roach said is true..Comment

paperchasers...
A lot of you dudes still don't seem to want to admit that the sport of boxing nowadays is more (or just as much) about the purse as it is about the actual fight. By fighting Marquez, Floyd Jr is basically doing what every other prominent fighter in the sport is doing nowadays..taking the best fight available that will yield the highest dollar signs for them. I mean really..who's he ducking...Cotto??..He & Clottey already have an upcoming date. Margarito is busy serving a suspension for loaded gloves. Berto?? He doesnt generate enough income and after the more than competitive scrap he had w/ Collazo I don't think his camp would put him in w/ Mayweather yet anyway. Finally that leaves Shane who was doing what??..waiting to pursue the winner of Hatton-Pacquiao. So does that make him b!tch-made too or is he simply trying to chase that publisher's clearing house check. The only other fighter who could factor in that equation is Williams who NO ONE at 147 seems to want to fight right now. Hell Pac-man is paper-chasing as well so all you mofos need to chill with being hypocrites. Fighting De la Hoya...then a bout w/ Hatton..those were both business moves more than anythang gloriously attributed to the sport itself. Hell, even Marquez is paperchasin'. I dont give a damn if he started at 126. Mayweather began his career at 130 so what diff does it make?? Everybody's jumping wgt classes these days in search of bigger paychecks. Who's Marquez going to fight at the moment that's going to put more milz in his pocket than Mayweather cause Pac-man isnt in too big a hurry for pt 3 following the 1st two close calls. Once you've made 15..20mil for one fight (esp when you're over age 30), all that glory -ish goes out the window. You want to make entertaining bouts..sure..but the most imp factor is those purse strings. As far as skill goes, Marquez (lb 4 lb wise) is as good as they come..regardless of wgt so I dont see how any1 could talk -ish about Floyd & not say Mosley is wack for actively wanting to pursue the winner of Pac-man vs Hatton. Its all economics yo..chuuchLast edited by Hitman88; 05-08-2009, 01:56 AM.Comment
