Mayweather vs. Pavlik or JMM vs. Mayweather. Equally (un)fair?

After years off fighting at 147 and higher why would he drop to 140 pounds in his comeback fight when he hasnt made 140 pounds in 5 years?
Please explain that.Comment

he would have done it, seeing as how he claimed him to be "easy money".
But he didn't and yes, I still think Tony is a pos for attempting to cheat.
The reason I bring him up is because people are heavily falling back on, "well Marquez called Floyd out".
I'm showing another fighter who did and was avoided.Comment

Why wouldn't he if he can make 140?
Supposedly, hes one of the pound for pound best.

Marquez was 141. Floyd was 147.
Pavlik was 160+ to Floyd's 147.
Are you kidding me right now? Is there any real debate here as to which size disadvantage is more profound? Don't even let me get into comparing the height and reach differentials in the two fights...
Bottom line: I'm not a Floyd Mayweather apologizer; I think he should fight the best fighters out there. I was disappointed when he took the DLH fight. I was annoyed at some of his picks at 147. But I don't let it cloud my judgement like most of the people on here who choose extremes when they are debating. It's the reason why threads like this are even allowed to be taken seriously and its pretty sad.Comment

So you think that Hearns vs. Leonard was unfair as well?Comment

does mayweather have to pick marquez up and slam him to the ground? does he have to push him out of a circle like in a sumo match? if not, the weight class argument doesn't hold merit.
height and reach are the only 2 measurables in a boxing match IMO. just look at 6'1 chagaev vs 7'0 valuev. Is chagaev really that great that he was able to beat Valuev? no. yes, he has boxing skills, but he used a basic strategy to beat Valuev.
If marquez wins or loses in this fight, it won't be because he moved up in weight classes, it will be because of the difference in skill.Comment

Are you taking into account what the REAL weight of the fighters was (ie rehydrated weight)? Thats what counts.
Marquez was 141. Floyd was 147.
Pavlik was 160+ to Floyd's 147.
