This WEIGHT issue in boxing is OVERRATED!!!!

I mean seriously 2 pounds here there do not make a difference.

And if a fighter does come in weight drained it's his fault. If they keep them selves in shape DURING TIME OFF the would not have problem making any weight!!!

Ppl complain DLH was weight drained blah blah but thats his fault. He did not come down from 154 he was prolly around 165-170 mark wen he went into camp. Now that's a lota weight to lose during training. Now had he kept himself at 154 all the way through making 147 would not be a problem!!!

So if cotto or mosley have to make 144 if they keep themselves round the 150 mark it won't be a problem come fight night.

2lbs to me or you is nothing but at the elite level of sports it can make a huge difference.

IN hatton's case because of his ******ity something like 50 off pounds.

That's why if you look at the best boxers they keep themselves in shape all year round. I mean geeez you get paid sooo much money i would want to stay in shape pro long career. It is a short career anyway then u can do watever u want!!

I'm not talking bout taking on heavy weight here. Talking bout ppl complaining mosley/cotto moving down to 144.

If they stay fit all year round 144 will not be a problem for them to make and bring their A game!!

Cutting that extra 2 lbs can be extremely difficult for a fighter. Actually, basically like hell.

But I do see the argument in saying that weight divisions are an overrated issue, thanks in part to the new weigh-in procedures. You've got 30 hours to rehydrate, and some fighters enter the ring way more than their opponent. Some guys cut a lot of weight, some don't.

Say a middleweight, who doesn't cut much weight, is fighting a welterweight who cuts a lot. The middleweight has the advantage in experience against bigger guys, but the weight difference, once they enter the ring, might be minimal.

Fighters will always cut weight, they always have, but with the older rules, you weren't as likely to see a fight billed as say, a 140 lb. title bout, and then one guy weighs 157 on fight night and the other 140.

It's sort of defeating the purpose of weight classes, when one guy is so much bigger when THEY ARE FIGHTING, not 30 hours before when they are weighing in.

I think any amount of weight to cut off is difficult if you are in shape in the weight division you are already in. Gaining weight on the other hand is entirely different. You shouldn't come in soft regardless of how much you move in weight if you train hard enough. Pacquiao never comes in looking soft and that's because he trains the hardest.
