I've come to realize something about Mayweather, Jr.

I've always been a big fan of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. I love his technical skills, his defense, ability to box and move, counter punch, and everything else that he has that makes him a complete fighter. He's undoubtedly one of the best fighters of this generation, and has an a great boxing brain.

But the more I've been thinking about it lately, I just cannot stand the thug, bad boy image that he tries to portray. When you see him doing interviews sometimes, he presents himself as very well mannered and nice, like when he went to the doctor's office in the 24/7 with Oscar. But then he comes to the Marquez press conference just acting like a disrespectful little ****, and it completely gives you a different opinion of him all together.

Marquez and Pacquiao both are very respectful guys who take care of their business in the ring and let their performances speak for themselves. And as great of a fighter as Floyd is, I don't think I can root for him against either man, especially Manny, simply because of his attitude. It's a shame, too, he could have been even bigger than De La Hoya in terms of drawing power were he a much nicer person, as Arum has said numerous times. He would have been the new, if not improved, Sugar Ray Leonard.

    It's too bad, really...

its because he plays the foil, the villain, says a whole lot of sht to sell the fight. it's no different than david haye showing up wearing a t-shirt showing the klitchskos decaptitated. I bet if Floyd had done that, with a t-shirt showing a decapitated Ricky hatton, the haters would have had a field day whining about it.

I can't remember which actress or singer it was that knew Deion Sanders in college. Anyway, Sanders was in the car with her and was acting "normal" and was in basic clothing. He was very polite and well mannered, etc.
Moments before he arrived to the field, he changed his clothes, put on all his ***elry, sunglasses, etc. and changed characters from Deion Sanders to "Prime Time."

She said he just changed right in front of her eyes. I think that was also the first time she met him face to face.

      Something like that....

Going to the doctor he's being himself. In front of his opponent and the press he's a bad guy. Its phony but its a simple formula...and how was he a disrespectful little **** at the presser. Roger was disrespectful towards Dundee. What did Floyd do exactly?

And no Floyd's style wouldn't appeal enough to make him the new DLH or Leonard...at least not in my opinion...

All the girls that I known who watch boxing love him for that image. Ya sure he might have that thug image of his, but they love his confidence that he brings into the fights.

IMO, it's why I like him a lot too...boxing is boring without guys like him just look at the 24/7's who don't have a villain like Mayweather....pretty boring...

Pretty much sums it up Mangler. It's extremely hard to like the way he acts. I love watching him in the ring though. He does put asses in the seats though. Even if they want to see him die.

He has his fans that ignore all of that and know that is just an act, then he has the weak-minded haters that fall for the act and pay for his fights to see him lose, but pay nonetheless. Stop paying to see him and he'll eventually stop the act as long as he's selling out crowds and putting up good PPV numbers he's gonna keep doing it and you're gonna want to keep seeing him lose.

Good post. In all honesty how many people wont pay for him to go against Pacquiao? Those who love him will pay for it, but I honestly think that those who hate him and want him to lose that 0 will out buy his fans..making it a big sell out. Arum is ludicrous if he doesn't make this fight happen.
