When there's a huge fight coming up, it consumes my life, and at the risk of becoming a repetitive bore, it's mostly all I will talk about while I'm here.

I was indeed away from the forum for a while after the 'Nard-Calzaghe fight, I was far too busy for this **** due to the amount of work I was doing back then. Nowadays I'm working more from home.

Truth: Pacquiao has been one of my fav fighters since I first watched him beat Barrera in 2003. I hadn't seen him before that and he completely blew me away because I thought Barrera would destroy this pretty much unknown Pinoy guy I hadn't seen before. I became an instant fan. You do have a point though -- it's fair to say I have become even more of a fan of late because Manny keeps putting in impressive performances. My enthusiasm as a fan has certainly become more intense, but I always loved Manny Pacquiao. I don't understand how anyone can't be a fan of the guy (maybe unless he beat the **** out their fav fighter).
Manny beat the **** out of my all time favorite in Morales.

But as a fan of the sport, rather than a fan of fighters,

how anyone can not like what Manny Pacquiao does is beyond me.

Of course, those are the fighter fans we speak of.

Talented fighters come and go in this sport,

but truly special individuals light it up.

    Manny Pacquiao shines brightly.

He sets himself up squarely in the pro-Pacquiao/anti-Mayweather camp, because he sees it's the fanboy thing to do. But he's supporting a trendier cause, so that's okay, I guess.
I don't see it as a trendier cause, MIB, I just think Pacquiao is a great human being who is worth supporting and Floyd is a prick most of the time. There are loads of comments about Pacquiao which I ignore completely, but sometimes the Floyd stans bring out the worst in me. I'll hold my hands up and admit that. I don't defend any piece of critical analysis nor do I do "trendy". If I did, I wouldn't even confess to being a Joe Calzaghe supporter. That's the worst thing you can be on this board because you get slated all the time. It just isn't very cool and trendy to support Calzaghe, apparently.

I agree with you. I can understand why some passionate fans would be bitter when their man gets beaten, although I wouldn't do that myself. If a fighter who I rate highly gets royally ****ed up, damn, props to the guy who put the beating on him, he is obviously very good.

To Ishy Aytan, sorry if I was harsh on you. I was wrong -- you're not the worst poster, I'll apologize for that. As for the point of the thread:

Seriously, who the hell was criticizing a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight? My harsh comments came from me thinking you were making **** up.

S.G., if he beats Pacquiao he gets my props, simple as that. Just as I said Ricky would earn my respect if he was victorious on Saturday. I still won't like Mayweather's personality if he wins, but not once have I criticized his skills.

              THe thing is,

              nobody does.

We all recognize and applaud his skills. Many have even gone so far to say they're the best they've ever seen.

              Nobody argues that.

Floyd stans just get upset when boxing fans are critical in who he chooses to fight.

They want the rest of us to bow down at his request as well. But since we don't, we're "hating",

even though we already acknowledged his skills.

A-HA! But you came on here as a Calzaghe Stan...and from a pro-Calzaghe Stan POV, the anti-Mayweather -- "I don't like his BLING BLING and he's arrogant and his fans are all into Lil' Wayne and blah blah blah" -- stuff is none more trendy (same as in the pro-Pac camp).

It isn't real, man. It's pantomime.

If Floyd had a theme tune, it would be - Madonna, 'Nobody Knows Me'. Understand? People buy into that **** way too much, on both sides of the coin. Floyd is a NERD who was brought up in a boxing tradition and in a trash-talky environment.

A guy like Ricky Hatton displays a great deal more true arrogance than Mayweather, because, for all his dirty talk and hype, Floyd never disregards an opponent's strengths, abilities and just assumes he can walk through them because he's Floyd Mayweather (or in Ricky's case, because he's Ricky Hatton and he has a mob of people who follow him everywhere and therefore he will win and be holder of the "pound for pound tikle"). You saw a lot of that in Hatton in the build-up to this fight, and it changed your perception of him for the worse.

Floyd's personality **** has nothing to do with boxing, anyway. Even if he is a jerk away from boxing, plenty of fighters are jerks. I don't care. I don't want to be their friend, lover or family member, I just want to see them punch each other in the face.

Marquez II was a huge fight involving Manny (just as HUGE as JC-Hop, especially to a Pacfan) - you were here for that one, and you passed no comment. Contrast to 12 months later, and you're rocking the Pac logo in ya siggy, man.

But I'm not trying to pick you apart, so, if you've had Pac man-love going back for time, I believe you.

The point remains about you being an example (just one) of the other side of the coin. You seem very fixated on individual fighters -- and the spin-off stuff involving their rivals (Froch, Marquez, Mayweather) -- at any one time.

And if any one thing makes these forums intolerable at any time, it's the supposed "good guys" acting like bitchy little queens and abject ****s. It's easy to spot the nationalists, racists and plain ******s - but when you get perceived 'quality posters' acting no better, then you're hurting.

There have been comments since Saturday night (and don't ask me to name names because too much **** flies here for me to take notes on it all) about how Mayweather won't dare fight Pac, and Mayweather is scared, will negotiate himself out etc.

                    Pinoy fanboys, probably.

And plenty of people (prior to Saturday night) said that Mayweather shouldn't be thinking of fighting Pac. You were one of them.

What a joke! You haters never fail to amaze me.

I never said he would beat Pacquiao. I think he needs to fight an elite fighter and prove he can mix it because so far he has not fought one. He has however struggled against a couple of guys who are not elite.
