its not really hard to see who are boxing fans (hardcore & casual) and a specific boxers fans are in this forum.

a level headed poster would just put those he doesnt seem to agree with on ignore, while those who attack tenaciously other posters opinion are clearly not a boxing fan.

He's got a point, though. Nothing he said in that post is untrue.

It isn't just these kids who obsess over individual fighters and allow them to definie their whole persona on the forum. Many of the over 30's here are just as twatty. You posted relentlessly about Joe Calzaghe over a period of months in the build-up to JC-Hopkins, then you disappeared for months after the fight, only to return when the next JC throwdown was imminent. Then when JC was done, you latched on to Pacquiao, a guy you'd never mentioned on the board previous to the Oscar build-up, even though you were here during the Marquez II fight and for part of the build-up to the Diaz fight. Now, seemingly overnight, you were his fan. In the month or so prior to Oscar, you were rooting for him, and after Oscar you were his megaStan and rocking his logo in your sig and ****.

Lately, you post about Pacquiao as if you were one of those Pinoy guys, Pacdbest, pacman777, FasTHarD, 1000 Left Fist or someone.

Not knocking, just saying. Why do you always have to be Stanning somebody in order to post here and be a boxing fan? I don't get it?

Who cares if the IRS is knocking on Money May's door? Did you see that Lambo, yo? And that iced out chain? Floyd got guap! He's the greatest, homey. Who's Whitaker? Jones? Those guys are overrated--Money May beat Oscar and retired undefeated!

Ishy Aytan appears to fall into this category. Though he may be misunderstood.

But a guy like, say, S a m u r a i, also falls into that category. He will defend Pacquiao from even the tiniest piece of critical analysis as if he were being sponsored to do so. He sets himself up squarely in the pro-Pacquiao/anti-Mayweather camp, because he sees it's the fanboy thing to do. But he's supporting a trendier cause, so that's okay, I guess.

The bandwagon of hardcore anti-Mayweather sentiment is frantic. Bear that in mind. It is way OTT. The Stans will get hysterical, naturally, and defend their hero - but you should also expect anyone who isn't a ravingly biased ****prick to read some of the stuff that gets written about Floyd in the negative here and think "WTF?".

Ishy Aytan isn't the worst of the Floyd Stans by far. He is very sensitive about Mayweather and so his post history has come to be defined by defending him. But he's coming from a perspective of someone who boxes and looks up to Floyd as an apotheosis of technical skill (there are a lot of young guys who box and look up to Mayweather that way - Kell Brook, for instance).

Then you get the other guys, like larrysmith, who are just...ugh. But all of these big names have them, Cotto, Pacquiao, Calzaghe, whoever. It isn't just Mayweather.

I think it's normal to talk about upcoming fights more than anything else. If there's a Calzaghe fight coming up, of course I'd be blabbering on about it for months. This goes for any fighter I'm interested in. When there's a huge fight coming up, it consumes my life, and at the risk of becoming a repetitive bore, it's mostly all I will talk about while I'm here.

I was indeed away from the forum for a while after the 'Nard-Calzaghe fight, I was far too busy for this **** due to the amount of work I was doing back then. Nowadays I'm working more from home.

Truth: Pacquiao has been one of my fav fighters since I first watched him beat Barrera in 2003. I hadn't seen him before that and he completely blew me away because I thought Barrera would destroy this pretty much unknown Pinoy guy I hadn't seen before. I became an instant fan. You do have a point though -- it's fair to say I have become even more of a fan of late because Manny keeps putting in impressive performances. My enthusiasm as a fan has certainly become more intense, but I always loved Manny Pacquiao. I don't understand how anyone can't be a fan of the guy (maybe unless he beat the **** out their fav fighter).
