Try not to be so transparent in your posts if you want to come across as objective and fair. Arum is also talking about a possible match with Cotto yeah, that sounds like a cake walk to me. Hatton the guy that has only lost to Mayweather and it took 10rds to get him down....with the help of the ringpost...Pac made him ponder retirement in under 2.
Though I don't exactly agree with the thread starter, the Arum argument is ******. He could simply see this as an oppurtunity to raise Cotto's star status at the slight expense of Pacquiao.

At the moment a lot of fights have a risk for Pacquiao which would effect his stock. It would probably be better to put him in with one of his own fighters so no matter who wins, he as the promoter comes out on top.

    It's a dirty game.

On the actual thread, he is fighting the money fights now. DLH and Hatton = Big cash.

With Moralles that was a revenge sort of thing and the 3 to settle things. With Barerra he is a legetimate challenger.

so before he fought oscar and hatton.. they were considered walk in the parks??

everyone was saying he was too small and he can't handle their size, strength, and power above 135..

All the other were either past glory or were never considered "A" level fighters.

          Pacman vs. :

Hatton(almost got TKO by Lazcano, unknown fighter), one-sided, whooping.
          DLH(dehydrated), one sided.
D.Diaz(poor guy was a moving punching bag for Pacman), one-sided
Morales(last 2 fights, last one was no competition for Pacman)
          Barrera(fill in) one-sided

It's evident Pacman trains so hard, that his fights become so easy, But at what point do you stop giving him easy fighters to truly test him and give the fans their money's worth.

Hand-Picking fighters can only go so far. Agree with or not?

Arum is talking about Chavez Jr. vs. Pacman, ARE YOU SERIOUS???!!!!!
I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. Pacquiao is fighting formidable opponents that are available. Look at it from this perspective: the reason why Manny is destroying these guys is because maybe he's really that good? Same thing can be said about any fighter. Mayweather's a "protected fighter" as well, with that rationale of thinking. I don't think he is, but according to this assumption, he is.

Of course trainers and promoters discuss who they're going to fight next. But i think it goes beyond "being protected" or not. It's a pretty fallible statement to assume that a fighter is protected when we don't even know what's going on behind the scenes. I respect your opinion, i just don't agree with it. And i'm not defending Manny; it's quite apparent that Pacquiao has a "i'll fight anyone" type of attitude...just like Paul Williams. I highly disagree that he's a "protected" fighter. "Taken care of" sounds more appropriate.

These promoters are wrecking shop with these fighters. Some of the matchups don't make sense..money-wise sure. Pac vs. Cotto though? I think Pac is one of the most exciting boxers out there but he is not superman, I think Cotto's frame is too big and he hurts Pac if he gets to him more than a few times.

And let me guess, you went against Pacquiao in all these fights which destroys your post of him being protected.

With all the hype NO. But the performance speaks volume about the quality. I think people were saying that to pump up the fight and put some ****e in the match. Boxing need to be revived. They pumped it up to a David n Goliath type match.

Hatton and DLH may have been the prettiest cherries Arum had picked for Manny. The old man has some magic touch.
