The reality is that the uber-passionate Floydlings and the *******s are equally guilty. And the Tiny Pinoys add an additional element of nationalistic pride that clouds their judgment.

I get the feeling that BOTH groups are relatively new to the game. As in religion, nobody is more passionate or more dangeroius than a recent convert.

What IS disappointing is to see more, um, "seasoned" fans who claim objectivity saying things like "Pacquiao beat XXXX better than Floyd". As if 1) there is a "better", and 2) it would be relevant if there were.

Let's elevate the level of discourse.

Mangler, I'm looking in YOUR direction.

      Dear larrysmith

      Kind regards

I appreciate the art and the fights of professional boxing

I DON'T appreciate fighters who are totally hungry and obsessed with money that it comes to the point that they don't care what the fans want to see.

      Thank you for understanding

Did you ever think he doesn't care about his HATERS?

Frankly, I've followed his career BEFORE Gatti, or Castillo, and he made it clear back then why he is the way he is now. It's a promotional hype act to make cash. He was always trying to be a star and could never understand why he wasn't

He took the Gatti fight and the Oscar fight to become a star. Simple.

If you think he avoided Cotto that's awesome, but Cotto avoided him at 140 as well when he fought Gatti. Such is the way of things.
Floyd retiring without fighting Cotto hurts Floyd more than Cotto tho. It will be viewed by a lot as he was scared. It also would have done more for his legacy than any fight out there.

            Flames,

It definitely seems like you get all ****tional and angry about Floyd. In poarticular. As if he wouldn't pay your tuition at Dade County Community College. Or something.

            Your TONE undermines any objectivity.

It goes to show the difference between "fanboys" and actual boxing fans.

exactly why people will continue to dislike PBF.

                carry on .

Pernell's a legend? I wouldn't call anyone outside of the top 10 all time a legend...Duran is a legend, Benny Leonard. Sugar Ray Leonard...
