I hate to bring those guys down, but Ray Robinson wanted no part of Charles Burley and many other black fighters. Ray Leonard wanted nothing to do with Aaron Pryor and admittedly waited for Marvin Hagler to "slip" enough to the point where he was confident that he could beat him and never gave him a rematch after his controversial win. Still doesn't take away from the fact that they are amongst the greatest fighters that ever lived.

I think Floyd lacks some points in the legacy department. Many others as well fighting today. Even Pac is overrated the way some people are talking about him. If we break down each fighter and each division...it's not as good as some may think. Same with Floyd.
SRL also waited for Hagler to decline and lose motivation for the fight game. SRL said this himself.
Floyd's legacy lacks in my opinion. He needs to fight JMM, then Pac, then step up to the big boy league and fight Cotto (if he beats Clottey), Shane, and maybe Williams to top it off. Williams would put him up there with the true elites...unless people want to keep bringing up his one loss even though he avenged it...if that is the case, forget it; no point in making the fight. Then again, why fight Shane then since he is past his prime and Cotto lost to Margarito so that is that...just retire or fight Abraham I guess. Although, Abraham might be overrated so move up to LH and fight Dawson...although he is overrates as well. Maybe HW??? No, they suck in this era. He needs to find a time-machine and go back in time to face off against Pryor in his prime, maybe Duran, or maybe just go way back and fight SRR at WW.
Who do you think he needs to fight to get a lot of credit?
Pac
Cotto
Shane
Williams
Those four are good enough for me. Should he beat them all, easily top 3.
I think he loses at least 3 of those fights though, which is why, here we are in 2009 and he hasn't faced a single one.
Hes not as confident in his abilities as most of his fans are. He knows that once he loses that zero, his main promotional point is gone forever.

I totally agree with you Benny, but with the hate around here they would complain that Pac and JMM were the smaller men, Cotto was damaged goods from his Margarito loss, Floyd ducked Shane until he was too old, and that Williams was already exposed by Quintana. I don't think there is anything he could do to satisfy this board short of possibly moving up to 175lbs to beat Chad Dawson, and even then he would probably have to win by knockout. Its just getting out of hand now.I think Floyd lacks some points in the legacy department. Many others as well fighting today. Even Pac is overrated the way some people are talking about him. Why is it hate to ask fighters to make the best fights?I totally agree with you Benny, but with the hate around here they would complain that Pac and JMM were the smaller men, Cotto was damaged goods from his Margarito loss, Floyd ducked Shane until he was too old, and that Williams was already exposed by Quintana. Like I said I agree with Benny that Floyd should fight these fighters. What I don't agree with is how people go out of their way to put everything he does down while another fighter doing the same thing gets elevated. I think the the Floyd hatred along with people on this board dislike of Paul Williams just because he can make welterweight is absolutely ridiculous.Comment

"I am not wasting any time with a tune-up fight," Mayweather said Saturday when the fight was announced. "I'm going straight to the top. Marquez called me out immediately after his victory over Juan Diaz in February and now he gets his wish. What he is going to find out is that you should be very careful what you wish for.

if he wants to fight the best at HIS weight (Welter weight), then fight a legit WW and not a blown up superfeatherweight!!!!!
Mosley also called you out after his victory with Margo.....
