Larry Holmes beat Shavers, Norton, Spinks, Cooney, Mercer, Berbick, Witherspoon, Smith...
Pac beats Hatton, drained DLH, Marquez, Floyd, Morales, Barrera

Holmes won his first 48 bouts, 20 title defenses, before he lost to Spinks.

Holmes resume looks better than Pac's to me...

You don't get to take on the top dog without earning it. Margarito had his chance and then he gets a boxing lesson from Paul Williams. Baldomir was the man at 147...what was Margarito doing?

Yup. I was touting Margarito forever when everyone thought I was nuts. I remembered him doing his thing on HBO back in '02 and couldn't figure out for the life of me why no one would even sniff in his direction. He was ****ing good! And when I went and got DVD's of all his fights, I realized he was damn good. So it hurt to discover that he plastered his hands in a fight and probably had done it before. Very disappointing. But it doesn't change the fact that from 2002-2007, he was one of the most avoided fighters I saw in my life, if not the most. I guess history is indeed told by the victors.

How do you deserve a fight with someone if you haven't beaten anyone of substance? Santos? Cintron? Laughable...

Are you kidding me? Every single person you named for Pacquiao is ranked WAY, WAY higher than the guys you listed for Holmes, excluding Oscar.

Step back and take a look for a second. Gerry Cooney? Trevor Berbick? Tim Weatherspoon? Michael Spinks? Ernie Shavers? Ken Norton? Over Floyd Mayweather...Marco Antonio Barrera...Juan Manuel Marquez?

            Try not to laugh.

Floyd Mayweather is the best fighter of our era, followed by Hopkins. Roy Jones takes the 90s. With a few more big wins Pacquiao has to be up on the 30 ATG's. He is an ATG now but not 30, not even Mayweather or Hopkins are top 30 yet.

Let's wait till these guys retire to rank them. For now, ESPN's list isn;t perfect but it's pretty accurate.

                  2. Muhammad Ali

                  4. Joe Louis
                  5. Willie Pep
                  6. Roberto Duran
                  7. Benny Leonard
                  8. Jack Johnson

                  14. Rocky Marciano
                  15. Jimmy Wilde
                  16. Gene Tunney

                  20. George Foreman
                  21. Tony Canzoneri
                  22. Barney Ross
                  23. Jimmy McLarnin
                  24. Julio Cesar Chavez

                  30. Terry McGovern

I know some don't like this list but who on here that is notable to you outside of maybe Chavez(and he even has a billion wins) would you put Pacquiao ahead of?

And please, this thread has nothing to do with Mayweather cuz he aint in the top 30 either.
Im not saying that list sux but its leaning towards fighters of yesteryear...theres just no comparison in most cases with the fighters of today...its a biased list...geez not even Mike Tyson??

I wouldn't rank Marquez above Spinks, and jus barely above Witherspoon.
