Hatton should def retire
Hatton has been going downhill since the Tszyu fight. What you need to understand is that Hatton's punch resistance is a FUNDAMENTAL part of the success of his offense. It's like taking away Manny's speed, or floyds defense.
Hatton used to be able to walk through punches, apply unbreakable pressure and get hit to land punches and wear down an opponent.
Sadly his lifestyle between fights has caught up with him and now means he has next to no punch resistance.
Hatton from 2005 wouldve been able to walk through the shots that manny used to knock him down in round 1. (Not the punch in round 2 tho, no one couldve coped with that shot).
Hatton's lack of punch resistance didnt show against malignaggi because hes a soft puncher. But he got rocked by lazcano, knocked out by mayweather, rocked by collazo, urango etc. All these fights after the Tzsyu fight.
Thats why I think he should retire, but if he must, then just have one homecoming farewell fight against someone easy.Comment

Also, its not the fact that he lost to Manny thats the problem. It's the manner of the loss. Knocked down 3 times in 2 rounds, knocked out COLD.
It would be a different story if it was a decision loss, or late TKOComment

Here's what some people fail to realize, usually because it's not their lives on the line: Being knocked out as violently as he was against Pacquiao is life-altering. The man hit his head very hard on the floor and might have suffered a concussion (I wouldn't be surprised but I haven't heard anything).
His two losses to Mayweather and Pacquiao were finalizing endings, the kind that take a lot out of a fighter.
On top of that, he has shown that he has only one style of fighting and it's one that leaves him in very vulnerable defensively. He's going to keep getting hit and taking two to land one and that just isn't the kind of fighter who should continue.
If he continues to campaign at 140, he'll find himself in a division with sharpshooting ****ers like Timothy Bradley, Victor Ortiz and Kendall Holt; guys who present a very high rate of risk and little compensation.
Hatton has a target on his back and every fighter under the sky is going to be out to cash in on him. He isn't a Roy Jones type of fighter who can run and move, he's going to get KO'ed the next time he fights another big puncher.
Taking on the two best fighters on the planet and losing has painted a false picture of Hatton's level of ability, he's still a top fighter. It's up to him whether he wants to continue, for what it's worth, having watched his interview tonight, I don't think he will continue.Comment
