Anybody at 147lbs who got hit by that punch and that flush on the chin will get knocked out. Boxers are human, a chin can only take much force especially when landed perfectly. That left hook is those career ending type of punch.

Perhaps it would. But Oscar would never have gotten himself into the position where he could be KTFO by a punch like that.

It's not difficult to starch someone who is practically on his knees begging to be starched as Hatton was from the first second of the fight.

Good post. Hatton begged to be knocked out. While Oscar never gave pacquiao a chance to land that killer punch. He was outboxed though.

Na, if you watch the fight, Oscar is behind his guard the whole time, in position to take a punch. He knows it was coming but he didn't know where because of the speed. Its easier to take a punch when you know its coming. If he would have TRIED to fight back, he knows he would have got knocked down a couple time prior to the 8th round.
When you are punching, then you are more open and in a better position to getting knocked out. Thats what happen to Hatton. If that was Oscar, he would have got knocked down, maybe he would have gotten up, but i think he would have got knocked down.

Thats because Oscar didn't put himself in any position to fight at all. He just sat back and took everything because if he would have tried to fight, he woulda opened himself up more

A good question is: could Pac take one of those wicked hooks Oscar used to deliver in his prime?

If Oscar actually threw a decent punch, he would of got KO'd by the counter.

Near the end of the 8th?
That left would have dropped Oscar, but not knocked him out...
If there was enough time left in the 8th afterwards, additional
hits would make a KO possible.

                    h.
