Floyd Sr probems with Ricky Hatton

Meanwhile, the Hatton camp moved to play down talk of a rift between American trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr and English assistant trainer Lee Beard, which was raised as a possible contributory factor to the defeat.

Probably the best way to describe Floyd is that he's on board as a consultant... he doesn't control Ricky Hatton, he doesn't speak for Ricky Hatton
    Gareth Williams
    Hatton Promotions chief executive
"It's an interesting point, but the one person to blame is Pacquiao," said Hatton Promotions chief executive Gareth Williams.
Mayweather Sr appeared at the post-fight press conference but only briefly, and he did not sit on the chairs and take questions alongside Beard and Williams.
"Lee's a lot more involved with Ricky Hatton than Floyd Mayweather is," Williams added. "Floyd Mayweather was brought in for 12 weeks to do a job, and that's the end of it.
"He's finished now and we don't know what's going to happen. Lee Beard's with Hatton Promotions 365 days a year, Floyd Mayweather's there for 12 weeks before a fight, and that's the difference.
"Probably the best way to describe Floyd is that he's on board as a consultant. He doesn't control Ricky Hatton, he doesn't speak for Ricky Hatton, he speaks for Floyd Mayweather."

Floyd Sr was not allowed to be at the press conference because the English team of Hatton didnt want Floyd to tell the truth

What was supposed to be the problem between Beard and big Floyd anyway?

Hatton doesn't have the ability to adjust.. So he should have kept his old trainer who tought him how to be a brawler to begin with.

floyd wasn't trying to change his style he was trying to make his defense better and to make him move his big head more, also to control his aggression more not just go wild and crazy when he feels like it.

Too many cooks spoil the broth.Hatton wanted who the **** bead to train him half and Floyd half. They ended up telling Floyd he was just a consultant and bead the trainer. That's why Floyd only came in when it was his time to train.Same thing with the fight night,Floyd wasnt late,he came in at the consultant's time, did his bit and went to the ring

Knowing Floyd Sr., we may know the real reason soon enough.

My guess is Ricky made a last minute decision to just abandon
anything he learned from Floyd and go for broke, which ended
              in the inevitable.

Can't take away anything Manny did. Manny did his thing and
gave the crowd their money's worth and more.

That is very interesting, and also goes with what chiyoko is saying. Beard was with Hatton all day and on fight night, Ricky might have had doubts as to whether the new tactics would work, especially as pressure mounted with the fight only hours away. Beard might have told Ricky to go back to his old tactics or do what he feels comfortable, choose between the new tactics or the old. I just can't see why Ricky would forget about 12 weeks of training otherwise.

                That makes sense.

That means there was a misunderstanding in the camp; floyd went into the fight thinking his tactics were being used, but beard and ricky knew otherwise. that's even why beard doesn't sound or look too shocked in between the round whilst floyd is ****in speechless at the way rickys fighting. also notice how ricky naturally turns to beard first instead of floyd, almost as if he was given instructions by beard and needed advice from beard instead of his actual trainer floyd sr. look at 3.40 onwards:

Who cares really? Ricky was terrible no head movement, no high guard or anything, he didn't listen at all probably why they had issues. I used to be a Hitman fan but not now he is just to unproffessional and one dimensional. Pacman would have taken him out no matter what but Ricky should have been competitive for a lot longer, hell i was expecting a ko by either man at 7, 8 or 9th not the 2nd. I mean as far as i know these 2 are not 1 punch ko fighters? Ricky certainly isnt, Diaz, Dela Hoya took clean shots for 8 rounds from pac!

Also i hear On radio station over the past 10 years of his boxing career he put on/lost around 60 stone or something.. imagine what that does to the body. Ricky just doesn't have the skills or brain to be a top top fighter im afraid :/

He was caught up in a mixture of identity. He didn't know whether to be the new ricky or go back to his old ways, I'm certain Beard gave him a quiet word saying something along the lines that you're bigger than him and more powerful so brawl him.

That goes against what Sr taught him all along.

Ignorant brits, always think they know what's best, ultimately he got knocked the **** out.
