Haha, yeah. He'd say something along the lines of "Now let me be perfectly clear, Mayweather just got soundly outboxed and defeated by Paquiao, what a great KO!"
There, I fixed it for you.

PPV numbers for Hatton Pacquiao
Originally posted by PeterinMI View PostI really think we need to see what the Hatton / Pac numbers look like. Might even need to wait for the JMM / Floyd numbers as well. Sorry if this is double posted. Boxingscene is behaving oddly today.

"If early reports are any indication on the stats behind how many people purchased the HBO-PPV telecast of Manny Pacquiao's devastating victory over Ricky Hatton, this event was HOT!
According to a report by USA Today, the early numbers from Cable companies are indicating that the fight may fetch as much as two million buys!
Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum was thrilled with the estimated figures, stating: "We know based on those early numbers and based on experience the event will perform extremely well. If I had to guess, anywhere between 1.6 million and two million homes, which is a home run."

Also, for the record, Mayweather/Marquez isn't going to even come close to Pacquiao-Hatton PPV numbers. Why?
1. Hatton's following is/was tremendous. He's directly responsible for a very large amount of PPV buys, at least in the U.K. for certain if not the U.S. as well.
2. Manny Pacquiao has the entire nation of the Phillipines behind him, as well as large amount of just as rabid Pinoy supporters here in the states.
3. Die hard fight fans such as myself and many others knew this would be an exciting fight and worth the money, so we bought it.
JMM and PBF have not and will not ever have the fan base/supporters that Hatton or Pacquiao have. This is simply a fact. Both are great and talented fighters, but popularity and skill are two distinct subjects, so no Marquez/Mayweather will do about 500-600k at BEST.

Personally I don't think that would happen. I'd love to see Pacquiao knock out Mayweather(or anyone to KO him to be honest), but I don't see it happening. Let's hope so though : )
Even if he finally succumbs to the pressure and takes a fight with Pacquaio, Mayweather better be ready to take the smaller piece of the pay, as Pac is currently the best, and he'd better be ready to learn how to handle a loss.
If it ended up a trilogy, however, that could be the best thing for boxing. Maybe the powers that be could throw us all a bone and air it on ABC Sports or something. If they want boxing to be big again, put it on television like the Super Bowl.
The commercial endorsements alone from the sheer number of households tuning in would make ten to twenty times more money than a PPV. It's what made boxing work in the 70's.

Mayweather is scared!!!!
Mayweather should have not accepted the fight with Marquez, he should just have waited to beat Hatton out and scheduled a fight against PaC for November so questions will be answered on who is the real king of boxing! Mayweather u suck! And in fact, if a fight against PAC will happen in Nov, Floyd should start training now so at least he wil be KO in in the later rounds. Should I say 3? hahah.. ( I wish the PAC is taller so he can be the next ALI )
