Matt Korobov - Future Top P4P Fighter and Undisputed World Champion

Korobov is a 2 time amatuer middleweight champion of the world. He is a complete fighter, big strong middleweight, 1 punch KO power, elite athlete, very fast hands, great combinations, very good defense and footwork.

Very impressive KO win for Korobov last night, he destroyed Bartinelli in 2 rounds.

Merchant called him a beast twice, if Larry is that excited over a Russian fighter you know he must be for real lol

yeah Korobov is amazing, don't forget that Golovkin (ko'd Bute in the am's) is a middleweight too! i think both of them would destroy someone like Andy Lee even right now, Pavlik better move up within the next two years or he'll lose them in the ring

He's good but I'm not sure if it was the best idea to leave Birmingham, not sure how much his father can develop him as a fighter.

amazing. I mean the kid has no weaknesses. Definitely a much better prospect than Gamboa. His precision is awesome, I mean not that his opponent gave him much of a movign target or anything but it was like literally every punch of a combination was landing on target.

Maybe but I think the reason he left Birmingham was due to his rather medicore performance against Cory Jones which was his last fight under Birmingham. He may have scored the KO, but before that he was getting hit and looked rather lackluster. But in his recent performance under his farther he looked picture perfect throwing accurate sharp combinations and a great array of skills.

I also get that the feeling Korobov can go along way. He is a great combination puncher, is a clever fighter with a great boxing brain, has nice footwork, is very well schooled and can punch. I expect big things from him.

Personally I think he could beat John Duddy as this stage.......

Here's a 60 second Interview from Korobov (Very Interesting)
(This is a few months back, and he hasn't left Birmingham)
                  Age started boxing: Seven.

First boxing memory: Losing two final fights when I was eight. I cry, no more boxing, no [smiles]. But I keep going.

Inspiration: There’s a lot of people – a lot of boxers. Sugar Ray Leonard, that style. My favourite style is from Sugar Ray.

Favourite all-time fighter: Many, many. Muhammad Ali probably.

Best fight you’ve seen: Recently, Antonio Margarito-Miguel Cotto. And Joe Calzaghe-Roy Jones. Calzaghe is nice fighter.

Pre-fight meal: Just vegetables, chicken – a little bit. Day of fight I have good breakfast, a lot of breakfast, and small lunch. That’s all.

What do you do to relax: I play computers, watching TV. I like swimming – it’s nice. Basketball. Go in sauna.

Pre-fight superstition: Always put my right glove on first.

What training (if any) do you do between fights: I’m always training. All of my life I’ve always trained. I love to train. When I was a small boy I’d go to gym and then come home and all day around house I do push-ups, sit-ups, shadow-boxing [smiles]. After a fight now I take a couple of days off, then back to running.

Typical breakfast: Omelette, waffles, tea. Small breakfast. Because I’m training in the morning and sparring and work with the bag.

Toughest part of being a boxer: My girlfriend (Anna) is in Ukraine. I fly back after every fight. She’s at university.

Favourite music: Pop music, all of pop music.

                  Last book read: Jules Verne.

                  Favourite film: Heat.

What car do you drive: Honda Pilot (silver).

Where do you train: St Pete Boxing Gym (Florida).

Training routine: It’s different every day. I train three times a day. Swim nearly every day. Box every day, with Winky Wright, Keith Thurman, Adam Hubinger. After the gym my father takes me to the fitness centre where I lift weights, run, swim.

Toughest man faced: It’s the Cuban Yordanis Despaigne. I fight with him in World Cup in Moscow – final fight in World Cup. I beat him, but he’s very tall with very long reach.

                  Supplements, if any: None.

If you were not a boxer what would you be: Boxing is all I think about since very young age.

Last place you went on holiday: Florida, at my home with my family. Now after I fight I go to Moscow.

Favourite football team: Manchester [presumably United] and Barcelona.

Best boxer in the sport today: Manny Pacquiao.
