He didn't let the country down, you let the country down by not standing by your fighter, you lost 50 quid , who cares he lost his title and maybe his career. You are not a boxing fan. Ricky tried and tried to make something happen but it just was not in the cards for him. This happens in the fight game. There are no guarantees and no refunds. I give him credit for constantly trying for that elite level and not taking the safe route against old men etc. That is a true warrior.

So his better days were behind him. He had an aggressive style and guys that fight like that always have shorter primes and lose in the end. The ride to the top and the story of how they got there is the most important thing.

Hopefully once you forget about the money you lost you will realize how much he has done for your Country and the Sport itself. He united fans in a way that may never be seen again. That alone is something special.
