Floyd fights off the ropes to give the impression that smaller fighters are actually pressuring him when in those situations, HE is the power puncher playing possum. Hattons punches hardly bothered the guy, and you cant pressure someone with shots that dont bother you unless you're a very high volume puncher, which Hatton isn't really.

Anyway, pretending that you're scared of a smaller fighter whos punches aren't even moving your guard and calling it the hardest fight of your life, is just a way to convincingly fight smaller guys without the criticism.

Talented fighter or not, he ruled his division for more than 4 years, was undefeated at the weight, and despite his technical shortcomings is one of the toughest fighters on the planet.
