Marquez is a small lightweight which is clear if you watch his fight against Juan Diaz who is a big lightweight. Marquez simply doesn't belong above 135 imo.

Techincally the fight is still at welterweight because it is being made over the limit at junior welterweight.
Surely it's not fair making a guy jump 2 weightclasses. But then it was never meant to be fair. It's just a tune-up so it's ok.

He even seemed small for lightweight - he only moved up to 135 to pursue a third fight with Pacquiao, so at 143 he'll well above his preferred fighting weight.

If Mayweather would have gone down to 135 or 130, it would be a fair fight.
Very true, but i can always hope

After this one, I demand a rematch with Sharmba Mitchell or perhaps Henry Bruseles as a 2nd tune up.

I want him to fight Kelly Pavlik. Time for pbf to jump 2 weight classes. Plus quisquera says that weight is unimportant. Only skills. So that should be an easy win for Floyd

Yeah you got a point and it would be even because JMM has never in 55 fights fought above 135, Floyd in 39 fights has never fought above 150 so that seems fair to go to 160

Perhaps he can fight Baldomir at 160 again for a tune up for the Pavlik or Abraham fight.

Or maybe they can drag DLH's carcass out again for a tune up at 160.

143 is still welterweight. marquez is not a welterweight. he's not even a super lightweight.

                  fight still is a joke.

marquez got sold out by gbp.

The only way this fight should be made is if Floyd can somehow conjer up his 2002 self when he was a lightweight and have that Floyd fight Marquez.

Crap fight, although it would be Mayweather's first fight in almost two years..
