This might be a tune-up for Floyd, but it isnt for Marquez. He's not trying to be Floyd's stepping stone. He's looking for the WLast edited by deevel79; 05-01-2009, 04:03 PM.Comment

Surely fighting a small lightweight at 145 is not a real fight. It's just a tune-up. If this makes Pac-pbf bigger it's only because Joe Average doesn't understand the dynamics of boxing and because boxing journalist fail to tell the true story and instead focus on lashing some magazines over the counter by hyping it as a big fight. The JMM that fought Pac is surely not the JMM who fights pbf at 145.Comment

I understand Floyd's intentions, but what about Marquez? He's not just gonna show up for a payday and let Floyd tee off on him at an unfair catchweight. He's a serious contender, and is looking to really prove that he is the better fighter.

Dont even bother trying to tell them how rediculous this is. If Floyd were to **** one of these Floyd groupies sisters, they would blame thier sister for dressing too sexy! There's no end to thier defending him no matter WHAT he does or tries.
Im with u though. This fight should be taking place at 140. If Floyd is adamant on having the fight at 147, or within a few pounds from it, then he should go fight a WW. Yes Marquez is the one who called Floyd out, but im sure he didnt have intentions of fighting Floyd at 147. Marquez moved up, now let Floyd moved down, and we'll have ourselves a mega fight. If not, tell Floyd to go *** himself.Comment

Well QUESQUEYA argued yesterday that a fight with JMM is not a tune-up. He argued that the fight was legit at 143 or so.

What is ****** is having fighters drain weight for the scales and then blow up 10-20 pounds for fight-time. Floyd is just skipping that. Floyd has shown up from 146-149 for his WW bouts. How much do JrWW show up at for their fight-time weight?
Pac was 147 for Diaz which was below JrWW/140. Hatton is..........
I've stated the reasons before why Floyd is fighting JMM so I don't think I need to go back over them.
My preference has always been for Floyd to fight Cotto....and then others.
At the end of the day, "Name" counts. Plus, fighters in the past have fought opponents way out of their divisions and won. Fight the Fighter, especially the one you called out....at their healthy best instead of wanting them to drain themselves and show up weak.
By the way, what's JMM fight-time weight?
I'm not really sure what it is.
And for "best weight": Floyd's best weight was from 130-140...not 147/WW.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 05-01-2009, 04:12 PM.Comment

Show me where Floyd is much bigger or even bigger than Marquez. Just because Floyd moved up alot earlier than Marquez so he could make more money doesnt mean he is much bigger or even bigger. Skills and smarts win fights, thats why guys in the past were able to go up and beat bigger champs.Comment
