He can fight the old guard and get away with it, such as Glenn Johnson. He could even rematch Roy to end an old defeat even though that would be pretty lame. Calzaghe too. He could move way up to fight Adamek. He cannot, however, fight a single current young-ish fighter that isn't named Chad Dawson. This Froch speculation is pure crap. If he were to suddenly fight Froch he would look like such a coward. Seriously. Carl Froch wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell versus Hopkins. It would be the Pavlik fight all over again. Hopkins knows this. Cherry picking a belt in another weight class and ducking Dawson is just a sad move.
Love Bernard... but there are very few people he can fight without being a coward.

I could have sworn both Roy and Calzaghe turned Hopkins down for a re-match. As for the Dawson situation, I am never too sure. But I doubt Hopkins is ducking Dawson. -

Froch vs Hopkins would be a pretty good fight. Dawson vs Hopkins would be better only because Dawson is better than Froch, Imho. But then again, styles makes fights.Comment

I don't know what he sees in the Froch fight. He is fully aware of the fights that will greatly improve his legacy, Froch isn't one of them but becoming a three weight world champion has a nice ring to it. It was clear he was willing to fight Calzaghe which shows he is still up for the big challenges but I think he sees the Joe fight as a very winnable one. It seems to me that the loss against Joe bites away at him, I think he underestimated Joe and now wishes he had fought the way he did against Pavlik (more aggressive)
But then again, fight Froch and then Adamek and then he is a four weight World champLast edited by winac; 04-30-2009, 10:53 PM.Comment

He's 44 years old and has proven himself time and time again, he should be allowed to "duck".
Besides, a fight with Froch will be difficult and it won't be the same as the Pavlik fight because Carl is a different fighter from both Tito and Kelly.Comment
