Hopkins Targets Froch...What About Chad Dawson?

Nice article. Lets ignore the facts that for one, bernard hopkins is 44 years old. I repeat, he's 44 years old. Two, he has faced nothing but elite opposition since Taylor and has earned his right to fight whomever he wants. And three Dawson has been tied up with Tarver for quite some time now.

No need to criticize and/or demand anything from a 44 year old legend who has more than proved himself over his 20+ year career.

Sure, maybe dawson beats hopkins in a close fight now at his age. So what? Maybe he would maybe he wouldn't. Let bernard hopkins decide what he wants to do with his final fight of his career, the man has earned that right.

Hopkins gets a free pass from me. After all, he has been fighting nothing but top 10 P4Pers since he was screwed in the Taylor fights.

exactly. hopkins could fight whoever he wants cuz he is in his mid 40's after all. Dawson would be a really bad mismatch for him at this point while Froch will be a lot easier to deal with for hops.

Exactly...Glen Johnson somehow is not in the picture. Dawson owes Glen a rematch, or a fight between Hopkins-Johnson would be great. Why the boxing media is so intent on pushing Dawson as the next big thing is something I don't understand. I guess Jermain Taylor - who has fought a string of nothing but best of the best opponents - has a few losses and HBO dumps him like a bad habit.

Let's see Dawson fight on the level of champions that Taylor fought, and see how he comes out. The Ouma and Spinks fights aside, Taylor has fought top 5 all the way.

I just wonder if HBO made a bad decision in banking on Dawson while letting other talent slip away. The Taylor-Froch fight was awesome and HBO should be red in the face that they didn't pick that fight up...meanwhile they have to try and market a Tarver-Dawson rematch.

I was agreeing with tis article until reading the bit 'Dawson is a better technical fihter than Calzaghe'. Lol!! Dawson was out on his feet in the last round against Tarver even though Dawson had himself dominated the fight. Calzaghe would monster him and I have a feeling that if Hopkins got punches in like Tarver did in the last round or so without doing much then Bernard will clean him out too
