The Hagler vs Hearns fight is overrated

When making your list please give details and examples or don't even bother posting anything at all but I am very interested in your list of fights that smash Hagler/Hearns. There are HISTORIANS that have this fight ranked up there as the best three rounds in boxing. Are you some kind of historian? One we have yet to hear from? Drop the list. Thank you.

Well then you misunderstand the nomination Hagler and Hearns are under.
It has been called the greatest 3 rounds in boxing. It is not called the greatest fight ever. I can sit here all day talking about great fights and your list mentions plenty but I wont argue that Hagler vs Hearns is one of the greatest 3 rounders I have ever seen because it was a title fight and many expected it to be a long faught war and it turned out to be a back and forth barn burner that ended about as quickly as it began.

Im tired of hearing "will this be another hagler-hearns" "people are comparing this fight to hagler-hearns". Hey yea thanks for that helluva first round. But the tired fellas only gave us 2 more decent rounds. Ive seen much better fights that lasted more than 3 rounds to hype fights up with, but classics(old ****) plays into peoples minds i guess.

I agree for the same reason as you and Threadsteeler stated. It was a great 1st round, but......

Thread Stealer i know its controversial but i think Carbajal vs Gonzalez is easily one of the most overrated FOTY ive ever seen. Its right up there with the borefest that was Holmes vs Spinks.

Are we talking about the same Carbajal-Gonzalez fight? The first one?

As far as recent FOTYs go, Holyfield-Tyson 1 in 96' was extremely overrated. Barrera-McKinney was far more deserving. So were Golota-Bowe 2 and Gatti-Rodriguez. Kelley-Gainer 1 and Liles-Littles 2 were outstanding fights as well.

Some of the old choices were strange.

Ali-Jones?

Young-Foreman over Saad-M. Johnson 1?

Foreman-Frazier? Sure, if you like your fights to resemble a father beating his child.

The Ring had Hagler-Hearns for 1985 and Cruz-McGuigan in 1986.

I agree, but at the same time, a lot of people who rate it so highly watched it live. That was a super fight, an event, and I'm sure that added to the excitement of seeing it and not knowing what was going to happen (as opposed to watching a tape of it years later).

That being said, Hagler-Hearns doesn't rank especially high on my list of best fights.

I agree..that's y people who were not yet born at that time will never feel the atmosphere of that super fight, myself included..so i just have to rely on experts for their views of the fight..it's i guess the same when in the future ill tell my grandchildren about the Morales-Pacman trilogy..they will never understand wat i felt when i was watching that trilogy..i was so emotionally attached with those fights coz Pac lost the 1st fight..it was sweet revenge in the end..u have to be there to feel it..

Yeah man. It was good but not GREAT. I suppose the KD added to it etc, but...
