Why are people discussing peoples racial background?

Does it have anything to do with boxing ability, what goes on in the ring, future matchs up?

If a white guy and his wife who are born in South Africa immigrate to the US and get citizenship, do they become African-American?

The term "African-American" is ******. 25% of Americans have African blood, and a HUGE percentage of Blacks in the US have European or Native American heritage as well. Guys like Roy Jones, Kobe Bryant, and the BROWN BOMBER Joe Louis have a solid amount of white blood in them. Are they suddenly, "Part African American".

I wonder if Joan Guzman calls himself an "African-Dominican". LOL

Ultimately the point is we all are from Africa.

But when you're specific about titles, races, nationalities and such.

If you were born here you are American.

I'm not Puerto Rican American.

Its pretty obvious Floyd is black, you can call it what you want it, african american or black american or whatever.

Of course he is still american, thats nationality versus ethnicity.

What exactly is a "wrong distinction" and what would then make a "right distinction"? Last time I checked, distinction is distinction.

There is no such thing as African American. You dont here black British folk calling themselves African British do you?

Why? because in America that term "African American" usually applies to a black person, but that sounds as though you are saying that if that persons skin tone is black or mixed race they must come from Africa. Which is dumb because there are also white Africans.

Ive never understood why Americans use that term.
