I guess the time to go is when your 46-0 made 21 title defences at SM...won and unified the wbc wbo ibf wba ring belts and won the LH ring belt ...oh and youve beaten 8 former wold champs along the way
Would that be a good time to retire?

Take this weekend. If Hatton gets the piss beat out of him and is knocked out, will he heed the call to hang them up?

Something should be done to make sure De La Hoya never reverses his decision. When a guy with as star-studded a ledger as Oscar can no longer beat a top level opponent without them being blown up, or has to look to the like of Chavez Jr. for a 'big' fight, it's time to go. You can't really get more iconic an exit than the way he went out, anyway...certainly, I look at Jones Jr. drawing the she**** out, recreating his glory days down in Pensacola with Omar Sheika, and it's hard to tell which is worse.

I don't really see way he shouldn't fight on if thats what he wants to do. If he still can dominate c-class fighters and enjoys doing that way not?

There are all different thoughts on this. I mean look at Holyfield he is still trying to get another fight. For sure you and I would say Evander retire but it is like telling a ordinary joe like you and me to stop going to work in the morning. Bottom line fighters hang on for different reasons some need $$$....Others have a few big $$$ fights out there and have not had the chance to make big money until later in their careers and they say fcuk it I fight 2 or three more times. Others truly belive they want to be remembered and they may have took fights based on business decisions and they want to leave behind a legacy so they call out the big names and try to prove they are the best in the business. Fighters from the earlier days even as late as Norton had to fight more often and had to fight other big names to make table scraps. His wars with Ali, Frazier Foreman those types of fighters and also all the sparring and the fact they fought 15 rounds back then equals more punches to the head. In today's game they stop fights much quicker then back in those days.....Lefty

I can see that side of it, too. But while watching it is kind of fun and nostalgic and it's nice to see Roy enjoying himself...I dunno, just reminds you of what once was, in sad ways as well as affirming ones. He used to be able to do a lot of that stuff (and more) to A-class fighters.

But I guess that's just the way it was meant to pan out. I hope Roy hangs 'em up soon, anyway, on the back of one of those exhibition type wins.

If it gets to the point that your speech is slurred you should have retired years ago.
