I haven't read the other 20+ pages on this thread cause I know it has become a racial war/debate so I'll just tell you about me. I am a white puerto rican with green eyes and afro like hair. You would think I was Italian or something if I shaved my head, but since I let it grow out you can just tell I'm Puerto Rican (unless you aren't familiar with our ethnicity). As for my ancestry...my moms great grandmother was an African house slave that was brought by the Spanish to serve in an Hacienda. My fathers side was mostly Spanish with a mix of Taino indian. Cotto seems to have something similar going on...hope this clears up some things for you.

Also just FYI, I am very proud of being part African, Taino and Spanish. It's just cool when you can just chill with any race or ethnicity whether it be african-american, latino, or white and they feel that you are apart of their race.

The race topic will piss any one off, especially any one that's cultrally ignorant. Some people don't even know the the people that were born in PR are American Citizens from birth. Any who... We understand one thing and that people are gonna believe what they choose to believe no matter what Science or Mathamatics you drop on them.

WHAT, HISTORIANS? LIST THE HISTORIANS INSTEAD OF MUMBLING GIBBERISH WITH NO EVIDENCE.

WHAT HISTORIANS LIKE THAT AFRICAN PROFRESSOR WHO WROTE A BOOK ON HOW NEGROIDS FOUNDED AMERICAS? THE SAME PROFESSOR WHO MOST OTHER SCHOLARS CALLED RIDICULOUS?

see, you're just like those black panther and american black islamists. you believe what you WANT to believe whether there is sufficient basis or not.

You have no idea how laughable it is when you try to act like a scholar and yet your beliefs are radical and unfounded.

Now you're calling buddha black... what's next?

But the most you will see is a Mix of Spaniards and Taino, Blacks were concentated more in LA ESPANOLA(Haiti/Dominican Republic).

Now so you can know the names if the different mixtures here they are.
                    1.Taino + African = Mulato

                    2.Maluto + White(Spaniard) = Mestizo

                    3.White(Spaniard) + Taino = Criollo

So Cotto is Probably more of number 2!!!!!!!!

Gachupines, criollos, mulatos, zambos, mestizos, indios ..
