I saw a pic of him with longer hair and it looked like he had the afro style nappy hair. So does he have some black in him? If he does I'm probably thinking its less than 1/2, max 1/4 because he doesn't look like he has that much black gene.
Is Miguel Cotto a mulatto?

People from that area and all surrounding islands are of a native american, african, and european mix....some more with the first two mentioned then the last. It all depends on who their ancestors were; the oppressed or the oppressor.Comment

Purto Ricans are a mixure of black and white so the answer is yes.
On a side note. Who cares?Last edited by QuCongee; 04-29-2009, 04:46 AM.Comment

I thought the same in the Corley fight and I forgot what other fights he sorta had like an afro. Does he have nappy hair? I couldn't really tell.Comment

Uhh, no... the reason there are mulattos is because there were ****** in those countries from the slave trade era too. And some ****** who left/escaped to live in those places. But their population is too small for them to be a majority. Hence mulattos are a minority among hispanic communities.
No, there are Puerto Rican's with black genes (mulattos) but that doesn't mean all or most of them are. Mulattos are the minority and hence I'm asking if Cotto is one.Comment

Ill give you a class here, ill first to say, That Here in PR were are a mix of 3 races, White(Mostly spanish), Black(Africans) and Taino(Native Indians). But the most you will see is a Mix of Spaniards and Taino, Blacks were concentated more in LA ESPANOLA(Haiti/Dominican Republic).
Now so you can know the names if the different mixtures here they are.
1.Taino + African = Mulato
2.Maluto + White(Spaniard) = Mestizo
3.White(Spaniard) + Taino = Criollo
So Cotto is Probably more of number 2!!!!!!!!Comment
