Anything else is irrelevant in my eyes.
Well, that's all well and good, but boxing does have rankings of more than two people at a time.

When talking about who is the #1 in the WW division, and these three guys are in the division, you do have to break your rule.

That's why you have to decide who has done the best in their matches cumulatively (which would be Mosley, with a close loss and a blowout win), or whoever has the best claim to not having actually lost (speculation about Margarito's cheating against Cotto).

But really, rankings do make you break your rule one way or another.

I still wanted a pwill rematch to leave no doubt in the air. It's just not logical to put yourself ahead of someone that beat you, because you can compare opponents and performances but the only way to settle it is in the ring and cotto beat shane in the ring.
My fault, guess I didn't remember correctly. Anyway, yeah...we'll need a Cotto vs Shane rematch, then a Cotto vs Margarito rematch, just because it isn't proven and GOD! I don't want to go there cuz it'll start some ****

put it like this if mayweather comes back and doesnt come back to the WW division....
and goes fights at Catch weights for his next 3 fights and retires again.
          How would you feel?
honestly at this point mayweather doesnt need a division to define himself.
he has been in 5 divisions already.

3 or 4 fights I would hope to see from floyd and then he can retire
          1.Pacquaio
2.Cotto (but cotto has to beat clottey or i dont see no reason for floyd to fight him now)
          3.JMM
          4. Paul Williams (retirement fight)

Those 4 fights will do it for me.

well yes one is forced to break the rule and make an opinionated ranking, but is it really logical ranking or sheer opinion? Take everything else away from both fighters and all they have is their fight. everything else can be argued and debated but the outcome of a match cant be. YOu can go on and on about which wins are better but i'd like to stick with who beat who. If me and you fought on the street and you whooped my ass then I'd whooped someone that beat you, I'd still have a hard time saying i can whoop your ass knowing you already whooped me once.

Fact is we'd be lucky to see Floyd fight 3 times, so don't even think about 4.

Floyd and Shane personally talked about a fight down the line already(It was on Boxingscene's main page as a video of Mosley) Mosley confirmed that him and Mayweather talked about a potential fight between them and Mayweather told him that he first wants a tune-up.

Cotto is one, Mosley is two. I don't see the debate. We know all the Margarito stuff is tainted at best, so we can't evaluate that fairly. What do we have left? A close win for Cotto over Mosley. Floyd would be third. I don't really know what to do with Margarito until I see how he looks when we know his wraps are clean.
