And Williams was making noise as well, especially after the Tony victory. And "yet to break through?" for real? After the Wright fight, what more does he have to do?

The final part of the problem, if your final statment.

"None of them gave him the mega bout he wanted and felt he deserved".

This is boxing. There are very few Ricky Hatton's, and Oscar De La Hoya's out there, in terms of drawing power.

You can't get mega fight after mega fight, after mega fight, all just served up to you. You have to let those things heat up to a boiling point, and then you strike while the iron is hot.

In the meantime, was it too damn much to ask that he at least one of the multiple opponets who were calling him out in his division?
I'm not the only one son! Thats common perception around the world except in their respective regions!

After beating ssm and judah? cotto would have been better off fighting margie's conqueror pw than margie! terrible move by his "team" but his over rated ass would have lost to either one imo!

    margie LOST his belt! remember!

wtf, you cant get consecutive mega fights if you are the best in the world? get real! the guy is not fighting for little money anymore so fighters have to come with it in some kind of way!

No answer for PW! But margie and cotto neither could lay claim to the best in the division let alone in the world so what was the incentive for fighting the small time fighters!?

Aside from Oscar De La Hoya at 154, and Ricky Hatton at 140. Who else was there at that time (early 2008, post Hatton), that could offer Floyd a "mega fight" for that type of money?

      Nobody.

That's why his ass was willing to rematch Oscar again! Thankfully, he retired. Otherwise it would've happened.

But then he came back when Cotto had already got the **** beat out of him, Margarito's reputation was in shambles, and Williams was fighting at 160?

(I was talking with Clegg earlier today and he brought up the above, and I figured it was too good not to make a thread for.)
Mayweather knew all this was going to happen , so he obviously retired to turn down a mega fight rematch with DLH, because "DLH was robbed" and Mayweather was scared.

On a serious level, this **** never gets old man. The man was the linear WW champion, regardless of what you think, there hasn't been one since he retired. I'm a Cotto fan, but can you tell me what he has done since Floyd retired on December 2007?

To turn me red, you're going to have to red K about 1000 more times.

Mayweather-Baldomir II even with the plaster.

            Why it didn't happen?

            What floyd got:

Mayweather-Baldomir - Linear Title, Unified Belts, $12 million including PPV cut.

What floyd would have got from the margarito fight:

WBO Belt and shares in a tortilla corn company.

I don't defend Floyd normally, and people really have to give Baldomir was lineal a rest, because while technically true it's pretty meaningless seeing who he beat for it Judah (A guy notorious for losing the big one, a guy who went 1-1 with Spinks, and beat the P4P Cosme Rivera to earn this distinction).

BUT I WILL say, it would be awfully hard to fight anyone after the money he made on DLH than Hatton.

****, with 15 million I would definitely take a couple of years off rather than getting in there with guys trying to take my head off.

Postscript, I was at the United Center in Chicago for Baldomir's fight before Judah with Miguel Angel Rodriguez which he won by decision. The Brewster-Golota fight was the thrilling 50 second main event

I couldn't believe later, that this guy was actually the lineal champion.

                  So it goes.

                    actual welters?

People like you say things like that as if he took on the very best of welterweight competition.
