I think to beat floyd,it would take a fighter who is not going to stop throwing mainly the jab!!!Oscar found success, but he stopped throwing!!This is the reason I think Margarito would have given floyd fits!!!To beat floyd uve got to understand ur going to look foolish, but u got to keep throwing at his shoulders and body and forget about looking good,in short, throw about 1200 punches in the fight!!Comment

I agree and I think Floyd will figure Pac out, own him, and stop him also but I just think that Floyd could Gatti JMM if he wanted too while I think that Pac has a "chance" to catch Floyd. You said that Chop only got that one punch but thats my point. Pac could do the same and end it. I think Floyd has a great chin but you never know. Ive made threads on here before saying how I dont think people talk about the Southpaw style enough. I think its a super huge advantage in boxing and can make guys look way better then what they really are. I could see Floyd coming out with the Winky guard against Pac and straight break him down easily but I could also see Floyd getting caught like RJ did against Tarver in there 2nd fight. His D was perfect and there was no way a righty could hit him with that shot but a Southpaw like Tarver could. The thing with the Southpaws is that you either cant see the punch coming or you can see it, put up the perfect D, and still get caught flush which makes it hurt even more. JMM on the other hand, I cant see him doing anything. Come on now, he's not smarter then Floyd, he's not bigger, he's not faster, he's not a better pure boxerr, he's not anything compared to Floyd. Not only does he had no advantage but he doesnt even come close to having an advantage but I respect him as a great fighter and I will be watchingLike I said, I realize that a lot of you are gassed on Pacquiao. I get that. Just know this...not all of us are. There are holes in Pacquiao's attack. For one, he still bounces back and forth. He also comes forward with only marginal regard for what's coming back. We've also never seen what happens to him when he doesn't simultaneously have a hand speed and size advantage. He won't have both against Mayweather. He may have neither.
I also think you guys are exaggerating the southpaw angle. Mayweather has had very little trouble with southpaws. He lost a couple of rounds to Judah, but then dominated the last 7 or 8 rounds of the fight. He got stung by one punch against Corley in his first fight at 140 and dominated the rest of the fight. He beat Sharmba easily.
Floyds not like Oscar. He doesn't look lost and robotic against southpaws. He doesn't go minutes on end without landing punches against southpaws. He's pretty comfortable in the ring against them and lands punches. If you're banking on the southpaw stance to work wonders for Manny against Floyd I think you're going to be sadly disappointed when the opposite stances doesn't magically make Manny impossible for Floyd to hit and defend against.Comment

i don't think manny is goin to lose to hatton but you all make it seem like manny is going to do to hatton what he did to a david diaz that got dropeed by erik and probably loss that fight and an oscar delahoya that was just marked up by steve forbes this will be a much beatter fight for 1 big reason hatton is not slow yea he might lose but don't be surprised if the early portion of this fight doesn't somewhat resemble the marquez-diaz fight except marquez is a much better counter puncher and much better at adaptin in fightsComment

Two thing in response to this post;I agree and I think Floyd will figure Pac out, own him, and stop him also but I just think that Floyd could Gatti JMM if he wanted too while I think that Pac has a "chance" to catch Floyd. 1) Floyd gets compared to Roy Jones way too often. They don't fight alike. Roy Jones never dedicated himself to training and/or accumulating ring smarts and perfecting his craft the way Floyd does. Roy Jones got beat when he did because he was so used to letting his talent carry him that he never adjusted to the aging process.
2) Floyd wasn't about to be knocked down against Corley and he wasn't even really in much trouble. It wasn't like his legs locked up or he stumbled back into the ropes. He just got stopped in his tracks. He covered up for about 10-15 seconds then came back with a flurry to finish the round strong. You can put 30 rounds together making 90 minutes of ring action from Floyd's fights against Chop Chop, Zab and Sharmba. Of those 90 minutes maybe 10-12 against Zab were a little rough. Then you have the 10-15 seconds against Chop Chop. The other 77.8-80 minutes were pure Mayweather domination.
You can believe that he struggles against southpaws if you want to, but against three southpaws who're just as fast as Manny, if not faster, who were natural 140 lbers Mayweather dominated the overwhelming majority of the action. I just don't see the southpaw stance swinging the pendulum that far into Manny's direction. If anything Manny's energy level is more likely to help him against Floyd than which hand he uses as a power hand.Comment

If this fight were taking place at a weight where JMM would be at his best, then your thread would have merrit. But we're talking about a small LW to begin with. A lot of JMM's success has been due to his precision reflex punching which he will be losing with the weight he will be putting on. Pacquiao has shown to carry his best qualities to 147 with no problem. This fight is perfect for Floyd because ALL the advantages go to him.Comment
