Is it me... or does Hatton look very quick when FMS is padding him?

It is a shame that he didn't have FMS earlier in his career. He would have still had the strength, but he would have been a more flexible, coordinated, versatile boxer.

Ricky's best days are probably behind him (he should still have enough to handle Pac, though).
he does look much better but at the end of the day he will probably need to revert to his old bruising style on the inside to win because of his short reach. Hopefully he will not try to pick and pop and use his new quickness/accuracy to get inside better.

No, guys. Any of us can remember the routine. It's just choreography. As I referred to in the opening post, i'm referring to the speed.

They were pretty fast at 126 and they aren't bad now. It's his timing which makes him one of the best fighters in the world and even though you didn't bring this up, but I'm going to anyway, he'd lose timing speed at 145. Of course like you said, he could choose to weigh in at 142, but even then gaining 7 pounds would still decrease that. Marquez ain't pacquiao when it comes to moving up in weight.

I disagree marquez was always a very fast fighter, he is 36 now and I would say he is still as fast as hatton, in his prime he was certainly faster pound 4 pound.

To the thread...yes hatton looks sharper on the pads, hard to determine whether he is quicker tho, as with graham his padwork (bodybag) consisted of throwing mainly power punches, a lot of hooks and uppercuts which naturally come out slower, now on the pads he is throwing straighter and with less power as floyd wants him to set up his power punches, the padwork is designed to help him do this especially the body attack.

I think I actually agree with this... Marquez clearly does have some good combination punching ability, but I think his secret is timing and perfect ring vision.

He always manages to see the open target a lot sooner than everyone else, and does know how to time things perfectly.

He throws some punches SO incorrectly, but they hit the most wide open target on the body.

He throws the most looping right I have ever seen that nailed Pacquiao's completely open face... it's incredible.

Hatton will win the inside battle.

For being such a warrior, Pacquiao does do his best work at range, which is kind of at odds with logic.

Hatton better hope that he can pull Pacquiao to an inside fight, because I do think Ricky will be in trouble if they fight at a distance for 12 rounds.
