As a Brit, I’ve changed my opinion on Jermain Taylor

Jemain Taylor doesn't deserve the bashing he's taken on this board the past couple of days.
He actually fought very well. If it were an 11 round fight, he would have won. And he was a gentleman in defeat, no whining or excuses.Comment

i agree withn everything said on this thread, but i think he should retire now, cause theres not much else he can do really, its only downhill from here. theres only so much you can train for stanima, the rest is natrual ability, & it seems JT has reached the peak of his abilities.
lots of people say he doesnt have the heart, thats the furthest thing from the truth... he gave his all, it just wasnt enough. win or lose thats how you keep your fans!Comment

Of course not. Everyone likes Taylor more when he loses than when he wins.
It's because he's such a gracious loser, and his losses have been fairly decisive (2 KOs, one decision which was somewhat debatable but not a robbery), while his major wins have all come with controversy.
If he'd have done nothing in the last round and survived while Froch was the aggressor from rounds 7-12, people would be screaming that Froch was robbed... just like Taylor/Hopkins I. Taylor would get LOADS of criticism for his performance and lack of work in the later rounds.
And god forbid he would've taken a knee instead of taking that final barrage from Froch... he could've survived the round, made it a 10-7 round, and won a razor thin SD (113-112, 113-112, 116-109). People would be HATING him right now for winning such a close fight while looking like a ***** at the end.
For the record, I'm a Taylor fan and am frankly glad, and proud, that he got off his feet and tried to finish the fight like a man. I would've hated to see him win by taking a knee just to finish out the clock.Comment

i thought taylor boxed well, hes got some really nice moves, froch looked for the most part like he was fighting in the pub. taylor also showed some pretty good foot work, one loss doesnt necessarily end a career, too much emphasis is placed on defeats, if two guys are relatively evenly matched theres no disgrace in losing, theres more disgrace in winning a complete mismatch plus the winning fighter learns absolutely nothing. i hope taylor comes backComment
