    thanks for the response.

I can dig the practicality of that somewhat. a fight at 170 so no titles are at stake

and Kessler-Dawson certainly is a high risk fight for both

but is this high risk fight a low reward one?

because a Dawson victory adds the name of Kessler to his resume, however will beating Kessler outside his natural weight division mean a whole lot to the boxing purists?

which brings me to the other side of it .. Kessler fighting Dawson is good on 2 fronts for Mikkel, it gives him a big American name (outside of Hopkins Roy Jones and Pavlik, Dawson is one of the bigger names in the 160-175 division)

and on top of the does losing to Dawson at 170 really effect Kessler's overall status too terribly?

because I'd somewhat relate it back to Pavlik's loss at 170 to Hopkins, besides getting bounced from the Pound For Pound top 10 and getting his first loss Kelly losing to B-Hop really didn't hurt his status in the overall boxing world as losing to Hop proved

    1. Hopkins is better then Pavlik, which is why he beat him and Kelly can't handle the higher weight which is why right after Pav went right back to 160.

so outside of a good payday, I can see why Dawson wouldn't want to fight the smaller man, at a catchweight

especially when there's better options at 175. (Cloud, Dawson (obligated rematch) or the Johnson rematch)

Except that he now says he doesn't want either of those fights but wants to go down to 168 instead.

Whether you think he's thinking right or not, that's clearly what he does want to do.

I know it's his decision, it's also his decision that he wants to remain inactive despite all the time he's been waiting for a title shot. And if he decides to go straight for the championship, he'll probably wait another 3 months just to get back in the ring again.

so then who'll Dawson fight at 168? Kessler?

until Chad does it (moves to 168) it's all talk.

you don't think Cloud is just talking s*it cuz he knows Dawson's tied up at the moment with a Tarver rematch?

the only reason Cloud's letter is getting such much press is because he's calling out Chad, while Chad has a fight coming up.

and what'll Cloud do in the meantime?

Dawson needs to fight Glen Johnson again. He can't consider himself the best at light heavyweight if he doesn't.

How dare a 175 pounder drop down to a divison where there mores money...its not fair your beating up on smaller guys...
