That would be a year of inactivity, Cloud sure would be bored with all that waiting.
An open letter to Chad Dawson:
To Chad Dawson: I just can’t be silent any longer. As you well know, if you win your rematch with Antonio Tarver on May 9th, I’m still your IBF mandatory.

After months of waiting, I’m asking you publicly, to act like a champion and give me my shot. Give the fans what they want- an exciting light heavyweight championship bout between two young, hungry fighters..

This second bout with Tarver, who, by the way, has beaten better fighters than you in rematches, is the most unanticipated championship fight of the year. I promise you, and the fans, Dawson v.s. Cloud will be something fight fans won’t want to miss and won’t ever forget.

It’s time to pick on someone your own age.

    I’m next.

    Tavoris Cloud

still Dawson-Kessler would be much better at an actual weight

as what have most of these big time catchweight bouts really proven?

i.e. Hopkins vs Wright, Hopkins vs Pavlik, Taylor vs Pavlik 2, Jones vs Trinidad, and Abraham vs Miranda 2

all were catchweight bouts and in most of the cases, the fighter moving up .. Wright, Trinidad, Pavlik proved to be too small, couldn't fight at the weight and lost. **in the cases of Taylor vs Pavlik 2 both had to move up, and Abraham did move up to 166, but was better then Miranda and proved it, going 2-0 vs him.

money aside what does Dawson fighting Kessler at 170 prove?

if Dawson can make Super, all right then, fight at 168.

but for the sake of all things holy boxing needs to get rid of this catchweight garbage .. I just posted five examples, and they really don't prove a whole lot besides who can/can't fight at 170 or 166 for that matter.

and besides with 17 weight divisions, im sure they can find one to fight at ... rather then toggle at a catchweight.

At the time a catchweight fight between Kessler and Dawson made sense since it would be a high-risk fight for both. The loser would still be able to go home with his belt and keep the opportunity to defend the title back home.

Dawson has the ability to beat everyone at 168, if he can get down there comfortably.

I didn't know the rematch with Tarver was mandatory either.

Dawson is the top dog on his current division. How to you justify Froch, a newbie to big fights getting to call Zaghe out, Pavlik out, Bute, Ward, all the big names and Dawson has to waste his youth with mandatories and rematch everyone he already beat? That's bull****, let Dawson FLY, he has earned it. His victory over Adamek says allot doesn't it? Adamek is no bum, he's doing pretty good vs decent opposition, Dawson WON EVERY ROUND vs him. He's the real deal, let him FLY, lets see Dawson in the big fights NOW, Pavliks, Froch, all the boys come on out, fight Dawson. I'm sure if Taylor had a couple of lackluster performances these guys would be all over him, he needs to play the same game these other cats are playing, DONT WASTE TIME.

That's not the point. So he decides to go straight for the championship, okay wait another 13 or more weeks to fight Dawson. Do you think Cloud and his team would want to do that? And I knew about the letter, but Cloud isn't thinking right.

uhh no he didn't. Had Cloud been BUSY waiting for Dawson, yeah sure Cloud should fight the winner of Dawson/Tarver 2, but he hasn't, and that's his fault.

Dawsons Fishing for Froch, its obvious... Low risk High Reward.

Froch doesnt stand a chance. no debate needed.
