I dont know why you guys are so shocked. He's always been about the money even though he draws **** and he always carefully picked opponents. This is not a shock at all.

Carefully picked opponents?? Are you serious? Look at who he's fought since turning 40:

Jermaine Taylor - top p4p fighter, undefeated younger fighter
Antonio Tarver - (hopkins moved UP in weight to fight the man at light heavyweight coming off of wins over Roy Jones and Glen Johnson).
Winky Wright - top pound 4 pound fighter, a guy no one wanted to fight).
Joe Calzaghe - top pound 4 pound champ, undefeated, SMW Champ
Kelly Pavlik - top pound 4 pound champ, undefeated, 17 years younger.

Out of those 5 fights, hopkins was the underdog in 4 of them (excluding the first Taylor fight).

NO ONE has fought that great of opposition in recent years, and I seriously doubt anyone over the age of 40 has fought that kind of opposition so succesfully.

If Hopkins at 44 wants a LIGHT TOUCH I mean since he fought Taylor twice..Tarver...Winky...Calzaghe...and Pavlik all in a row for god sake..then fine let him take a light touch get paid and fight Adamek or Dawson or Williams next.

That is a good point we do not know if he's going to retire. Pacquiao, de la hoya, Calzaghe, etc. they all have easy fights from time to time. Hopkins hasn't had an easy fight since when? Howard Eastman in 2005
