why not? Makaev seems to be in a very good shape now, and all he has to do is to lend one punch (and not miss one before that).

He only had a 1-2 point lead, which is nothing in HW boxing.
The skill level of both Rahman and Maskaev is not good (comparable to McCline).

Their athleticism is what makes them both well rated in official ratings. (Maskaev is in top 10 by WBC now).

Maskaev would destroy Meehan the same way. Meehan was a joke.

              Meehan-Brewster was a fix.

i disagree, Rahman's skill is much better than McCline, so is his power. Maskaev can't beat a boxer. thast y he will never make it, remember Kirk Johnson, lance Whitaker, then he lost to punchers like Sanders, Tua and McCall, all by KO. which shows that he is not a good boxer and can't take a punch, and just got lucky against Rahman

It is fine. I am not a fan of either Maskaev or Rahman. I do not think Rahman can become a dominating champ. He might have somewhat better skills than McCline, but time will show how good he is. My guess is that he is not that good.

Vitali Klitschko KO's Rahman, he has difficulty fighting tall heavyweights and he doesn't know how to counterpunch.
