If Froch beats Taylor, how does he compare to Calzaghe?

Personally I would say Calzaghes wins in order are Hopkins, Kessler, Eubank, Lacy. I'd say the Pascal win for Froch is just below the Lacy win, but if he beat Taylor that win would have to be between the Kessler and Eubank wins.

If Froch gets what he wants and beats Taylor then goes on to leather Bute, surely he is gaining a resume to rival Calzaghes?
No. Not really. Pascal wouldn't make the top 10 list of Calzaghe's opponents.

I'll be delighted for Froch if he beats Taylor and then unifies, but let's not get silly here. Calzaghe's body of work has a depth to it that the less informed simply don't understand and is significantly ahead of anything on Froch's resume.

My worry with Froch is that he's left this too late. He looks physically past his peak of a couple of years ago and it's only in his 30's he's starting to fight live opponents. He's missed the boat IMO and that's a damn shame. Hopefully he can still knock off Taylor but I do worry a bit for him.

Nowhere near Calzaghe's status. If we are going to give Froch the same treatment as Calzaghe when it comes to judging resumes then it will go like this:
Taylor is past prime, Bute isn't that good and nobody had ever heard of Pascal before Froch fought him.

This Taylor or the one that fought Taylor and Wright? We'll find out on Saturday night but the one that fought Pavlik wasn't better than any of them.

If he beats Taylor that's the only proven name on his record. Calzaghe's resumé is waaayy above that.

Froch's resumé lacks names and longevity. Let him beat Taylor, Kessler, Bute make a couple of midlevel defenses and then make a thread.
