Froch vs Taylor - The Pre Fight Report Card

Pascal had a damn good go and couldn't put him down. I was amazed at what he could take.
Froch's chin is made from granite.Comment

Are you saying that boxers are invincible? No ones that invincible, especially with that defense, and you can't fix bad habits that quickly. Last time I checked, boxers are no different then you and I, yes the train harder of course. But they are only human like you and I

Sorry mate but i disagree, my money is on Froch on this one. Pascal's been put in Froch's camp to tighten up his defence i don't think he's going let himself get hits as much as he did in his last fight. And if its does become a brawl Froch will take him to the cleaners..Comment

HAHAHA, it won't become a brawl. It will be a boxing match, and that is taylors fight to win.Sorry mate but i disagree, my money is on Froch on this one. Who is Pascal? Who has Pascal beaten exactly?Comment

Taylor's officially been down once in his career and that was when he was unconcious after a barrage of flush shots from Pavlik. Against Lacy he was down but it was ruled a slip.
Hardly "quite a few times".Comment

The reason why he appears to have such a good chin is that he rolls with the punches - although it looks like he's being hit a lot, the punches don't actually land flush. And he got carried away with the excitement against Pascal, and by his desire to make it a tear-up for the fans. He realises that he can't get away with that attitude against Taylor. He'll still have the same basic style, but against Taylor, when he throws a combination, he'll bring his hands up immediately he's thrown it, as he moves back out of range. He'll still keep his hands low the rest of the time, though. That's a minor change and an easy one to implement. Are you saying that boxers are invincible? No ones that invincible, especially with that defense, and you can't fix bad habits that quickly. Last time I checked, boxers are no different then you and I, yes the train harder of course. He's an excellent counter-puncher, and Taylor won't want to mix it up with him too much because of the punches he'd have to take if he did. That fear of taking counters is going to make it very hard for Taylor to land too many big punches of his own, IMO.
I think Froch's power is over-rated, but that his skills are under-rated. He does throw every punch with leverage though, and fights with real intensity, which allows him to wear opponents down.
I see it as a pick 'em fight, and like most people on here, I think that if Taylor wins, it'll be by UD, and if there's a KO, it'll be Taylor who goes down in the late rounds. Taylor has a good chin, but his stamina is suspect when under constant pressure, IMO.
PS - Is anyone willing to bet that Taylor will win by KO/TKO? I'll put anything up to 50k on Froch not being stopped. I don't know who'll win, but I feel absolutely certain that he won't be stopped.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-24-2009, 10:04 AM.Comment

Everyone seems to be picking taylor. But, i can't see froch losing!
I know his defence is weak but i just haven't been impressed by jermain taylor in years. whats to say he's gona turn back the clock against a guy he has never even heard off? Maybe i'm wrong.
I'd be amazed if taylor won by KO. I think people are underestimating froch big time!Comment
