Froch vs Taylor - The Pre Fight Report Card

By Cliff Rold - Joe Calzaghe is gone. Ricky Hatton may be closer to the end than it seems right now. Clearly, British boxing can use its next big star to step up to their level…maybe even fill their shoes. This Saturday night at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, live on Showtime in the U.S., WBC 168 lb. titlist Carl Froch gets a big opportunity to make his way up the economic ladder. Froch's defense is so opened that yes, a Taylor KO is possible. Look how he had Pavlik in round 2 of their first bout and Pavlik is no chinny fighter. Pavlik got hit with everything against Hopkins at 170 and didn't go down, just wobbled. Taylor hasn't KO anyone in a while but if you get in the ring having that in mind, you're in for a KO. They don't call him Bad Intentions for nothing. I got Taylor winning a comfortable UD.

Froch's power is rated the same as Taylor because Froch has not knocked out anyone of significance. I still think he has more pop then Taylor though, just unproven at the highest level.

Taylor is a middling puncher at 160 Froch is a big puncher at 168.

                  The guy is a goof.

Its a shame as i know 1,000 good boxing writers trying to make it and you have a moron like this working for Boxingscene.

                  Shame.

True. Taylor has good power don't get me wrong, but it hasn't shown at 168, as he only knocked down a middleweight in Pavlik moving up. He couldn't finish off junior-middles too in Spinks.

I don't see a stoppage happening in favour of Taylor. There are 2 results in this fight. A Froch knockout, or a Taylor UD. Simple.
