ali's resume is far superior to joe's.

if you want to talk about skills , aside from punching power i think ali has joe beat in almost every category.
joe would have broken ali down.

Don't get me wrong, he was a great heavyweight, but the media made him out to be more than he was.

He was in a lot of close fights, and received at least three gift decisions in his pro career.

He was knocked down by the smaller Englishman Cooper in 1963.

He was knocked down and defeated by Joe Frazier at age 29.

He went life and death for 15 rounds and was knocked down by a limited journeyman called Chuck Wepner.

He fought a lot of opponents like Blin and Bonaventa with whom he had about a 12" reach advantage.
He also gets a lot of credit for not being the same fighter after his exile. He wasn't filled out when he fought Cooper like he was against Williams, but I still think he was susceptible to timed punches and especially the left-hook.

I was never a big Ali fan but I'll give him credit where it's due.

Chuck stepped on his foot not to mention many other illegal tactics he was using like hitting behind the head.

Overrated nobody who lost to 140 lb Henry Cooper and was knocked out for 10 minutes with Angelo Dundee screwing Cooper out of his victory by ripping Ali's gloves and having them replaced.

my top heavyweights of all time (resume and skills)

                    1. muhammad ali
                    2. joe louis
                    3. larry holmes
                    4. george foreman
                    5. lennox lewis
                    6. jack dempsey
                    7. rocky marciano (only gets on here because of his 0. i think everyone on the list whoops him tbh)
                    8. sonny liston
                    9. joe frazier
                    10. jack johnson (god he was boring and his defense is so overrated)

5-10 are interchangeable to me. 2-4 can be moved around. 1 is set in stone.
